IN consequence of the favourable reception which this publication has experienced, the editor has availed himself of the opportunity afforded by a second edition, to revise and correct the work throughout, and to make a few additions to the Memoir and Appendix; which he deems it expedient to give in a detached form, that the purchasers of the former copies may have no cause to complain. These additions are as follows: 1. Several anecdotes relating to Mr. Park and the Associates of his last journey, obtained from different sources, but principally through the kind and liberal communications of WALTER SCOTT, Esq., to whom the acknowledgments of the editor are particularly due. 2. Some observations, which have occurred during the revision of the work, respecting the list of prices of commercial articles at Sansanding, and the relative values of gold and silver in Africa. 3. A few additional remarks on the question relative to the share of Mr. Bryan Edwards in the publication of Mr. Park's former Travels. |
