fhiped Images, prayed for the dead, looked to be faved by their own Works, by vowing of charity, or by their voluntary Poverty? If they can fhew me, any foul mouth'd Jefuit of them all, but any one Example in the whole Book of God,or any of Gods Children-that have performed them, I will then lay my hand upon my Mouth. In the mean time give me leave, Oye Papifts, to tell you, that yon are none of Chrifts Church, you are none of Chrifts Sheep, for you have left the fteps of the Sheep, the tents of the Shepherd; The Doctrine taught by the Prophets of God, Chrift and bis Apoftles; and therefore are no better than the Whore of Baby. lon, the Synagogue of Satan: And as therehath been a fucceffion of Popes and Cardinals; fo they are a fucceffion of H.reticks, that feduce ignorant people for their own private gain.

But as for the Church of England, we believe and firmly embrace that old and true Religion, that is, the fame Faith which Abraham, Ifaac and Jacob ufed. We hold that Doctrine taught by the Prophets and holy Apostles of our Lord and Saviour, without adding or diminishing; And if we should dare to devife a new kind of Faith, Religion, and Worship of God, not ufed nor known to the ancient Prophets, Patriarchs, Chrift and his Apoftles, as the Church of Rome doth, it were to leave the steps of the Sheep; and the flocks of his companions, even to shake hands with Idolaters.

Well then, let us ever ftand out against the Antichrift of Rome, and as Chrift faith, come

Out

ut of her, joyn not with her in her falfe Reliion and Idolatrous Service of God, left we artake of her Plagues: But let us hold faft he true Religion of God. Tread in the fteps of he Sheep, fed by the Tents of the Shepherd. Let s live and die in the true Church of God,and or ever hold faft the true, ancient and holy eligion, which we have received from the ho Patriarchs, Abraham, Ifaac, Jacob, Mofes, he Prophets, and all the holy Apoftles of Jefus Chrift, and then we fhall be fafe and fure, yea, leffed and happy for evermore.

An Exhortation to flir Chriftian People to

F

Prayer.

ft, Prayer is of that force and virtue, that it ties the Ear of God to the Tongue of M Un,it is an acceptable Incenf. before God alway for how hath he always rewarded it, and r garded it! It never returned but with a Bleffing if that the Prayer was but fent out of a pure at upright heart mingled with Eaith: for we me ask in Faith, and waver not, as St. James faith By Fervent Prayer the Children of Ifrael wa delivered from the Egyptian Bondage, as yo may read, that when they cryed unto the Lor he heard thein, and delivered them out of the Enemies hands. And therefore I have here mad two Godly Prayers, one for the Morning, th other for the Evening; to call and cry unto th Lord for a Bleffing, and to defire him to move his Judgments from us.

A Morning Prayer for a Family.

Lord teach us to pray, that we may call upon th Name. Prepare our Hearts to feek thee; an open thou thy Merciful Ears to hear us.

Living Lord God, of

Creator and continual Preferver; by whol gracious Providence we are preferved, and kep unto this prefent. We here, the Workfhan

of thy hand, defire to humble both Soul and Body before thee. And now, Lord, we being here in thy Prefence, cannot but acknowledge and confefs our own unworthinefs to come before thee, to call upon Thee, or to perform the 1aft Duty toward Thee. Our Hearts, ire all polluted and unclean: And who can make hat clean, that is takemout of an unclean thing? The thoughts and imaginations of the fame, nuft needs be evil continually, and we unto e very good work Reprobates. Yet, O Lord, chou haft commanded us to call upon Thee, and naft promifed to be prefent with thy Children, to hear their Prayers, and to grant their Requeft, which they put up in Faith unto Thee, O Lord; This gives us boldness to come before Thee: and in confidence that thou wilt make good thy Promifes unto us at this time, we here offer unto Thee this Morning Sacrifice of Prayer and Thanksgiving, humbly confeffing from the bot tom of our Hearts our manifold Tranfgreffions and Offences, continually multiplyed against Thee, in thought, word, and deed, unto this prefent time. We acknowledge, O Lord, our Original corruption, in which we are at fi ft conceived and born, and from which there hath fprung forth the moft bitter fruit of Sin, to the great difhonour of thy Name, the wounding of our poor Souls and Confciences, and the evil example of others: For which, O God, we confefs that we have juftly deferved, thy Wrath and Indignation, both in this Life and in the Life to come.

And therefore, O God, we come not here before Thee in our own worthiness, but in the worthiness and mediation of Jefus Chrift, befeeching thee, for his fake, to forgive all our of fences, our fecret fins, and our fins of Infirmity, our prefumptuous fins, against Knowledge, a gainft Confcience, against thee, or against our Brethren. We pray thee, O God, for Chrift Jefus fake, to forgive the fame unto us, and perfwade our Souls and Confciences more and more, that thou art at Peace with us, and that all our fins are done away in the Blood of thy Son. And grant, O God, by the affiftance and direction of thy Spirit, that with more freedom of mind, and liberty of will, we may ferve Thee in Righteoufnefs and true Holinefs unto the end of our days. And, good Lord, begin not only Repentance and true Converfion in us, but of rhy great Mercy perfect the fame: Olead us forward more and more towards perfection; increase us in the faving knowledge of Thee, and of thy Son Chrift, Faith in thy promifes, repentance from dead Works, fear of thy holy Name, hatred of all our fins, and love unto thy truth. Frame our weak hearts (good Lord) more and more to the Obedience of thy Holy Will, and teach us in all things to refign our Will unto thy Holy Will, and in time of Affliction, as in time of Profperity, to de-) pend upon Thee, that we look not too much upon our own weakness, but may ftay our felves by thy Power and Promifes.

And good Lord )comfort our forrowful hearts
