and dejected Souls, that find daily fuch caufes of Hmumiliation in our felves, doing daily thofe things which we should not, and leaving undone thofe things that theu com mandeft. O let us be truly humbled for the fame, and for thy Mercies fake give us better Affection unto Goodness, and Power, and Ability, to do that good thou commandeft and requireft at our hands, that feeking in all good things to honour Thee, and to extol thy Name while we live here, we may at laft behold thy Face in Glory..

And now, Lord, together with our Prayers we Praife thy great Name, for thy manifold Favours and Bleffings, which from time to time thou haft bestowed upon us for this Life, and especially for a better. We thank thee for that it hath pleafed thee, to elect and chufe us to Salvation before the World was; for calling us by thy word in time, for juftifying us by thy Son Chrift, and for giving us a certain expectation of a better life when this is ended. As alfo for the happy means of our Salvation. Oh! it is thy great goodness, O Lord, that thou haft not deprived us of them all, having from time to time walked fo unworthy of thy Love. O lay not to our charge our ingratitude, that we have not brought forth more fruit in our lives; but grant us, we pray thee, that for the time to come, we may make more fteps to thy Kingdom. And we magnifie thy Nime, O Lord, for all the temporal Blethings which thou haft in Mercy beftowed upon us, our Health, Peace, Food, Rayment, and for the comfort of this Life. O Lord, give

us a right ufe of them, that we may not abuse them unto licentioufiefs, but ftir us up daily to devote our felves unto thee and thy fervice. We acknowledge thy goodness towards us the Night paft, freeing us from many dangers both of Soul and Body, and giving us sweet and com fortable reft, we befeech thee to be with us this day, and all the days of our lives, and teach us to walk as Children of the light, that thy Name may be glorified by us,and we may be good ex amples to others and may enjoy the peace of a good Confcience, fo that at the last we may come to reign with thee in Glory.

And fit us for afflictions whenfoever it fhall please thee to bring them upon us; and keep, us, Lord, in thofe days by thy mighty power. And thou that knows our wants better than we our felves, we pray thee take notice of them, and minifter unto us a gracious fupply in thy own due time, even for Jefus Chrift's fake; In whose name we conclude thefe our weak and imperfe&t Frayers,in that perfect form of Prayer which he himself hath taught us, faying, Our Father, which art in Heaven, &c.

Evening

Evening Prayer for a Family.

O'Lord, prepare our Hearts for Prayer.

Eternal God, our most Loving and Merciful Father, it is thy Commandment that we Should call upon thy Name, and it is thy Gracious andmerciful Promife, that where two or three are gathered together in thy Name, there thow wilt be prefent among them Wethy poor and unworthy Servants, Daft and Afbes, yet the Workmanship of thy Hands, are come before thee,to offer an Eve ning Sacrifice of Prayer and Thanksgiving. And now, O Lord, we acknowledge and confefs, that we are grievous Sinners, conceived in Sin, and born in Iniquity, and have brought forth most vile Fruits in our Lives, to the great difbonour of thy Name, and the evil example of our Brethren, for which we deferve thy Wrath and Indignation to be poured upon us, both in this Life, and that which is to come, fo that no Creature in Heaven or Earth is able to reconcile us again to thy Majefty, but only thy Son Fefus Chrift. We intreat thee there fore, O Lord, to be merciful unto us, and as we acknowledge our Sins unto thee, fo be thou faithful and juft to forgive us our Sins; for we acknow, Tedge, O Lord that against thee have we finned, & dene Evil in thy fight. Thou hast been a guide unto all our our ways, who alone art the fearcher of the Heart and the tryer of the Reins.

To thee therefore do we come to crave the Par don of our Sins, both for the Guilt and Punish

ment of the fame, that they may not draw down upon us deferved Judgments. And we intreat thee likewife, as to pardon our Sins that are paft in our lives, fo to arm and ftrengthen us against Sin for the time to come. O we have woful ex perience in our felves of the weakness of our Na tupe, oow ready we are to fall from thee, and cannot keep fo conftant a watch over our ways, nor over our Hearts, but fill are ready to fart afide. O Lord, direct us aright in the Paths of thy Commandments, let thy good Spirit lead us forth into all Truth, and thefe Hearts of ours that are by Name fo Sinful, and Wicked, we pray thee alter and change, and bring into fub. jection, and faithful Obedience unto Chrift; Let us find daily more and more the Power and Spirit of Chrift, mortifying Sin in us, and raifing us daily unto newness of Life.

Guide us, O Lord, that we may give our felves, our Souls, and our Bodies, to be Lively, Holy, and acceptable Sacrifices unto thee. Let thy Love fhewed unto us, conftrain us to love thee again. Thou, O Lord God, haft made us, and not we our frives; haft made us after thine own Image; Thou didst preferve us in our Mothers Womb, and daily nourishes us, and provides for us, and gives us many Bleffings, which others want and fand in need of O Lord, let us make a right use of all thy Mercies.

We can never fufficiently admire thy Goodness, baving from to time walked fo unworthy of thy Love Forgive us, O Lord, our unthankfulnefs, and let us now walk as Children of the

Light. It is too much that we have spent the tinz that is paft, according to the Luft of the Flef Give us Grace that we may spend that short time that yet remaineth, according to thy Will. Sea before our Eyes the Shortness of our Lives, tha we may be fully prepared for the fecond coming of our Saviour to Judgment. And now in the time of our Profperity, Lord, teach us to think of the time of Adverfisy; and in time of Health. let us remember the time of Sickness, and the Hour of Death, which shall come upon all Flesh.

O let us be mindful of our latter end, let us number our Days aright, that we may apply our Hearts unto Wisdom, and always mind that reckoning and account which one day we must give unto thee. Make us while we live here to be bumbly minded towards our Brethren, that we be lowly in our own Eyes, that we get contented Hearts, Pure Affections, Chaft Minds, and wife Behaviour, and all other gifts of thy Spirit, that may adorn us in thy Sight, and may add unto the credit of thy truth we profefs.

And Lord, we pray thee accept of our Thankf giving unto thy Majefty, for all thy Mercies and Blffings from time to time bestowed upon us. We Praife thee for our Election, Vocation, Fuftification, Sanctification, continual prefervation, and the affurance thou haft given us of a better Life, when this is ended, as alfo for all Temporal Blef fings, Health, Wealth, Peace and Profperity, for thy Goodness extended towards us this day past, that thou haft gone in and out before us, and freed ms from many dangers of Soul and Body, and
