PROMISES TO THOSE UNDER DISCOURAGEMENT, PRINCIPALLY THROUGH AFFLIC TION OF THE BODY.

ALTHOUGH affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground: yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.-Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth therefore despise not' thou the chastening of the Almighty : for he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. Before I was afflicted I went astray but now have I kept thy word. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant. I hope in thy word. Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live and let me not be ashamed of my hope.-Though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
