PREFACE.

THE object of the "WEEKLY NOTES OF CASES" is to furnish for the current information of the profession a prompt record of the decisions in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the Courts in Philadelphia, reported in a succinct form, but sufficiently complete to be useful and trustworthy when cited as authority. Every report is prepared by a reporter present in Court during the argument of the cause, and is critically revised before it appears in print.

The enterprise has received the approval of a large portion of the profession; and, with the benefit of experience, no effort will be spared in the future to improve the character of the work. It is hoped that the WEEKLY NOTES may merit the encouragement and support of practising lawyers throughout the State, in order that its scope of usefulness may be enlarged, and that it may, at no distant day, be recognized as the Lawyers' Journal of Pennsylvania.
