Additionally, $220,000 and 5 American positions are requested for the Bureau of International Organization Affairs to staff the Washington office of the U.S. Ambassador to the UN so that this office can participate more actively in policy formulation and execution. Also included in this request is $917,000 and 12 American and 53 Local positions for the Bureau of Security and Consular Affairs. This increase will meet increased Western Hemisphere immigrant visa workloads resulting from recent amendments to the Immigration and Nationality Act (Public Law 94-571). Finally, $380,000 is requested to provide for continued U.S. participation in the 1978 calendar year meetings of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. |
