During our hearings on March 1 with regard to the amounts requested by the State Department for contributions to international organizations, Senator Laxalt asked that we have a special informational hearing on the United Nations. The total amount requested for contributions to the international organizations and conferences is $502,945,000, of which 81.8 percent is for the contributions to international organizations. The United Nations and specialized agencies account for almost three-fourths of the U.S. con-tributions to international organizations.
