It is recommended that the teacher require the pupil to commit thoroughly to memory the following Blackboard Exercises, so that he can place them on the board with perfect readiness; and also that the pupil be required to become entirely familfar with the Constitutional explanations referred to by the large figures, as well as with the annotations in Part II. of the author's work on Civil Government.

It is hoped that the teacher will not disregard this recommendation. It is the only method of teaching this subject with thoroughness.

BLACKBOARD EXERCISES.

PREAMBLE.

This should be fully explained in one or two lessons. It would be well to write it out in full on the blackboard, and explain it, clause by clause, before proceeding to further consider the analysis of the Constitution. (See author's "Analysis of Civil Government," p. 109.)
