the compilation and analysis of State legislation dealing directly with specific commodities. The first of these studies in immediacy of interest to government, business, and the consumer is the milk and dairy products industry. The present volume is the result of that research. State Liquor Legislation is in type and will soon reach publication date. The intricately detailed regulations governing the Nation's general food markets are now being analyzed and charted for final manuscript and as early publication as possible. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This factual presentation of milk and dairy legislation comprising the compilation of State statutes and digest of pertinent court decisions represents, as did preceding publications in this series, the work of the MARKETING LAWS SURVEY staff of attorneys and research assistants employed in the headquarters of the Survey in Washington, D. C., and in the three regional offices in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Materials collected in the regional offices were sent to Washington for final selection, review, and analysis. The organization and analysis of this milk and dairy legislation and its interpretation by the courts was begun under the general legal direction of IRWIN W. SILVERMAN, former Chief Attorney, and was completed under the general legal direction of L. THOMPSON BENNETT, Jr., as Chief Attorney and IRVIN LECHLITER, Chief Administrative Attorney. Important contributions to the inclusiveness of this volume are represented in the work of HAROLD A. UNTERBERG, in organizing and charting material for the analysis of milk control laws, and of EDITH N. Cook in summarizing and analyzing the licensing regulations of the States. Special acknowledgment is made by the MARKETING LAWS SURVEY to the many law libraries in each region, including those of Federal and State courts, the law school of many universities and colleges, legal publishing firms and other private libraries-all of which have generously placed their invaluable special facilities at the service of the Survey. This splendid cooperation has saved months of labor in selecting and compiling the statutes and court decisions. A final acknowledgment must be made to the entire staff of the Survey, each of whom had a share in gathering and organizing this volume for publication. A. H.
