And whereas, in order to carry into effect the objects of the said recited Act, an Act hath been passed by the President, Council, and Assembly of the island of Nevis, intituled " An Act to provide "for the maintenance, protection, and good govern"ment of apprenticed labourers, and to settle the "jurisdiction and authority of special magistrates;" also "An Act to establish a local constabulary "force on the several plantations in this island;' and also "An Act to alter and amend an Act, "intituled An Act to provide for the maintenance, protection, and good government of apprenticed "labourers, and to settle the jurisdiction and authority of special magistrates :'

And whereas it is considered by His Majesty in Council, that adequate and satisfactory provision hath been made by law in the said island of Nevis, for giving effect to the said recited Act of Parliament, by such further and supplementary enactments as therein mentioned, according to the true intent and meaning of the said Act:

His Majesty is, therefore, pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to declare, and it is hereby declared, that adequate and satisfactory provision hath been made by law in the said island of Nevis, for giving effect to the said recited Act of Parliament, by such further and supplementary enactments as therein are mentioned:

And the Right Honourable the Marquess of Lansdowne, the President of His Majesty's Privy Council, and the Right Honourable Lord Glenelg, one of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, are to give the necessary directions herein as to them may respectively appertain.

The King has been pleased to grant unto Sir John Franklin, Knt. Captain in the Royal Navy, His royal licence and permission that he may accept and wear the gold cross of the Order of the Redeemer, which His Majesty Otho, King of Greece, has conferred upon him, in approbation of his services at Patras, while commanding the ship Rainbow; and that he may enjoy all the rights and privileges thereunto annexed:

And also to command, that the said concession and especial mark of His royal favour be registered, together with the relative documents, in His Majesty's College of Arms.

ELECTION OF A TEMPORAL PEER OF IRELAND.

IN pursuance of an Act, passed in the fortieth year of the reign of His Majesty King George the Third, intituled " An Act to regulate the mode by which the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Commons, to serve in the Parliament of the United Kingdom, on the part of Ireland, shall be summoned and returned to the said Parliament," I do hereby give notice, that the Right Honourable Edward Hadding, Baron Dunsany, has been chosen by a majority of votes to be the Peer to sit in the House of Lords of the United Kingdom, in the room of Charles William Earl of Charleville, deceased.

DESIGNS FOR THE NEW HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

THE Commissioners appointed by His Majesty for the examination of designs for the new Houses of Parliament having made their selection, Notice is hereby given that, for the purpose of delivering over to the respective Candidates such designs as shall not have been selected, attendance will be given at the late official residence of the Speaker of the House of Commons, New Palace-yard, Westminster, on Tuesday and Wednesday the 2d and 3d of February, between the hours of ten and four.

As the same motto or device has been adopted by more than one Candidate, it will be necessary that the parties should be very minute and particular in their applications, and that they should furnish the best possible evidence for the authentication of their respective designs.

Peeresses on announcing, within the time above specified, their intention of being present at the opening the session of Parliament, will have places reserved for them.

No stranger can be admitted to any part of the House, except by a ticket, subscribed by the Deputy Great Chamberlain.

No Lady can be admitted, into the body of the House, but in full dress.

The doors will not be open, for the admission of strangers, before twelve o'clock.
