1. LORD of the Sabbath, hear us pray, In this Thy house, on this Thy day: And own as grateful sacrifice

The songs which from Thy temple rise.

2. Thine earthly Sabbaths, Lord, we love,
But there's a nobler rest above;
To that our rising souls aspire
With ardent hope and strong desire.
3. No more fatigue, no more distress,
Nor sin, nor hell, shall reach the place;
No sighs shall mingle with the songs
Resounding from immortal tongues.
4. No rude alarms of raging foes,

No cares to break the long repose;
No midnight shade, no clouded sun,
But sacred, high, eternal noon.

DODDRIDGE

1. JESUS, Thy blood and righteousness
My beauty are, my glorious dress;
'Midst flaming worlds, in these array'd,
With joy shall I lift up my head.

2. When from the dust of death I rise

To claim my mansion in the skies,
E'en then shall this be all my plea,
"Jesus has liv'd and died for me."

3. This spotless robe the same appears
When ruin'd nature sinks in years;
No age can change its glorious bue,
The grace of Christ is ever new.

4. Thou God of pow'r, Thou God of love,
Let the whole world Thy mercy prove;
Their beauty this, their glorious dress,
Jesus, the Lord, our righteousness.

C. WESLEY.

PSALM LXVIII.

1. KINGDOMS and thrones to God belong
Crown Him, ye nations, in your song;
His wond'rous names and pow'rs rehearse,
And let His honours fill your verse.

2. Proclaim him King, pronounce him blest;
He's your defence, your joy, your rest:
When terrors rise, and nations faint,
God is the strength of ev'ry saint.

1. JESUS, our best beloved Friend, Draw out our souls in pure desire; Jesus, in love to us descend,

Baptize us with Thy Spirit's fire.

2. On Thy redeeming name we call, Poor and unworthy though we be : Pardon and sanctify us all;

Let each Thy full salvation see.

3. Our souls and bodies we resign,

To fear and follow Thy commands;
Oh, take our hearts-our hearts are Thine,
Accept the service of our hands.

4. Firm, faithful, watching unto prayer,
May we Thy blessed will obey;
Toil in Thy vineyard here, and bear
The heat and burden of the day.

5. Yet, Lord, for us a resting-place,

In heaven, at thy right hand prepare;

And, till we see Thee face to face,

Be all our conversation there.

Common Metres.
