ST. DAVID'S, C. M.
1. WHAT is the thing of greatest price,
The whole creation round?
-That, which in Christ is found.
That keeps two worlds at strife :
Heaven stoops to give it life. 3. God, to reclaim it, did not spare
His well-beloved Son;
The sins of all in One.
And pledg'd the blood divine,
-That price was paid for mine. 5. And is this treasure borne below,
In earthly vessels frail ?
Till flesh and spirit fail ?
This knowledge to obtain,
1. THE stars are but the shining dust
Of my divine abode,
Where I shall reign with God. 2. The Father of eternal light
Shall there his beams display;
With that unvaried day.
For human guilt t' atone, Shall satisfy my soul's desire,
And call me to His throne.
Shall in one song unite;
With infinite delight.
A copy, Lord, of thine.
5. Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart;
Come quickly from above;
