[Verses 1 and 3 only are to be sung to the Music of the opposite page: for Verses 2 and 4, see next page.]

1. THOU art the Way! by Thee alone
From sin and death we flee;
And he who would the Father seek,
Must seek Him, Lord, by Thee.

2. Thou art the Truth! Thy Word alone
True Wisdom can impart;

Thou only canst instruct the mind,
And purify the heart.

3. Thou art the Life! the empty tomb
Proclaims Thy conq'ring arm;

And those who put their trust in Thee
Nor death nor hell shall harm.

4. Jesus, the Way, the Truth, the Life!
To us that wisdom give,

By Thee to seek the Father's face,
In Thee alone to live.

[Verses 1 and 3 only are to be sung to the Music of the opposite page; for Verses 2 and 4, see next page.]

1. THE Lord descended from above,
And bow'd the heav'ns most high ;

And underneath his feet he cast
The darkness of the sky:

2. On cherubim and seraphim
Full royally he rode;

And on the wings of mighty winds
Came flying all abroad.

3. Blest be the Lord, the mighty God,
Most worthy of all praise;

He is my rock, my saving health;
To Him my songs I'll raise.

4. O God, my strength and fortitude,
My heart shall rest on Thee !
Thou art my fortress and defence
In all necessity.

PSALM LXXI.

1. GOD of my childhood and my youth,
The Guide of all my days,

I will declare Thy heavenly truth,
And sing Thy wond'rous ways.

2. Still has my life new wonders seen
Repeated ev'ry year;

Behold, my days which yet remain,
I trust them to Thy care.

3. Cast me not off when strength declines,
When hoary hairs arise;

And round me let Thy glory shine,
Whene'er Thy servant dies.

4. Then, in the hist'ry of my age,
When men review my days,
They'll read Thy love in ev'ry page,
In ev'ry line Thy praise.

1. My Saviour, let me hear Thy voice
Pronounce a word of peace,

And all my warmest pow'rs shall join
To celebrate Thy grace.

2. With gentle smiles call me Thy son,
And speak my sins forgiv'n;

Thine accents mild shall soothe mine ear,
Like the sweet harps of heav'n.

3. Cheerful, where'er Thy hand shall lead,
The darkest path I'll tread;
Cheerful I'll quit these mortal shores,
And mingle with the dead.

4. When dreadful guilt is done away,
No other fears we know ;

The hand that scatters pardons down,
Shall crowns of life bestow.
