UNIVERSITY, C. M.

DR. RANDALL.

&

1. HARK! the glad sound! the Saviour comes,
The Saviour promis'd long;

Let ev'ry heart prepare a throne,
And ev'ry voice a song.

2. He comes the pris'ner to release
In Satan's bondage held :

The gates of brass before him break,
The iron fetters yield.

3. He comes the broken heart to bind,
To make the wounded whole,

To preach glad tidings to the meek,
And bless the humble soul.

4. Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace!
Thine advent shall proclaim;

And earth and heaven shall join to sing
The glories of Thy name.

DODDRIDGE.

1. ALL hail the great Immanuel's name !
Ye angels, prostrate fall:

Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown him Lord of all !

2. Crown him, ye martyrs of our God,
Who from His altar call:

Extol the stem of Jesse's rod,
And crown him Lord of all !

3. Let ev'ry kindred, every tribe,
Around this earthly ball,

To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown him Lord of all !

4. Oh, that with yonder sacred throng,
We at His feet may fall;
There join the everlasting song,
And crown him Lord of all!

PERRONETT.

1. O THOU to whom all creatures bow
Within this earthly frame,

Through all the worlds how great art Thou!
How glorious is Thy name !

2. When heaven, Thy beauteous work on high,
Employs our wond'ring sight,

The moon that nightly rules the sky,
With stars of feebler light;

3. Lord, what is man, or man's frail race,
Who dwells so far below,

That Thou should'st visit him with grace,
And love his nature so?

4. That Thy eternal Son should bear
To take a mortal form;

Made lower than His angels are
To save a dying worm?

5. Jesus, our Lord, to Thee we bow;
Let all Thy grace proclaim,

Through all the worlds how great art Thou!
How glorious is Thy name!

[merged small][ocr errors]

4. Remember Thee! Thy death, Thy shame,

Our sinful hearts to share!

O memory! leave no other name
But His recorded there !

NOEL.
