1. Glory to Thee, my God, this night,

For all the blessings of the light:
Keep me, O keep me, King of kings,
Under Thy own Almighty wings.

2. Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear son,
The ills that I this day have done;
That with the world, myself, and Thee,
I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.

3. Teach me to live, that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed;
To die, that this vile body may
Rise glorious at the awful day.

4. O may my soul on Thee repose,

And may sweet sleep mine eye-lids close;
Sleep that may me more vigorous make,
To serve my God when I awake.

5. When in the night I sleepless lie,
My soul with heav'nly thoughts supply;
Let no ill dreams disturb my rest,
No powers of darkness me molest.

6. O may Thine angel, while I sleep,
Close to my bed his vigils keep;
His love angelical instil,

Stop all the avenues of ill.

7. May He celestial joy rehearse,

And thought to thought with me converse;
Or, in my stead, all the night long,
Sing to my God a grateful song.

8. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

FOR THE LAST SUNDAY OF THE HALF-YEAR.

1. LORD, dismiss us with Thy blessing;—

Thanks for mercies past receive;--
Pardon all, their faults confessing;-
Time that's lost may all retrieve!
May Thy children

Ne'er again Thy Spirit grieve!

2. Bless Thou all our days of leisure ;-
Help us selfish lures to flee ;—
Sanctify our every pleasure,

Pure and blameless may it be :

May our gladness

Draw us evermore to Thee!

3. By Thy kindly influence cherish

All the good we here have gained ;-
May all taint of evil perish,

By Thy mightier power restrained:

Seek we ever

Knowledge pure and love unfeigned !

4. Let Thy father-hand be shielding

All who here shall meet no more ;-
May their seed-time past be yielding
Year by year a richer store!

Those returning

Make more faithful than before!

1. GUIDE me, O Thou great Jehovah. Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but Thou art mighty, Hold me with Thy powerful hand. Bread of heaven,

Feed me till I want no more.

2. Open Thou the crystal fountain
Whence the healing streams do flow:
Let the fiery cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliv'rer,

Be Thou still my strength and shield.

3. When I tread the verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious fears subside: Death of death and hell's destruction, Lead me safe on Canaan's side.

Songs of praises

I will ever give to Thee.

FOR THE FIRST SUNDAY OF THE
HALF-YEAR.

1. LORD, behold us with Thy blessing,
Once again assembled here;
Onward be our footsteps pressing,
In Thy love, and faith, and fear!
Still protect us

By Thy presence ever near!
2. For Thy mercy we adore Thee,-
For this rest upon our way:
Lord, again we bow before Thee,—
Speed our labours day by day:
Mind and spirit
With Thy choicest gifts array!
3. Keep the spell of home-affection
Still alive in every heart;-
May its power, with mild direction,
Draw our love from self apart;-
Till Thy children

Feel that Thou their Father art!
4. Break temptation's fatal power,-
Shielding all with guardian care,
Safe in every careless hour,-
Safe from sloth and sensual snare:
Thou, our Saviour,

Still our failing strength repair!
