Exemptions from the London Port or Dock Duties. Any Ship or Vessel coming to or going Coastwise from the Port of London, or to any part of Great Britain, unless such Ship or Vessel shall exceed forty-five tons burthen. Any Vessel bringing Corn Coastwise, the principal part of whose cargo shall consist of Corn.* Any Fishing Smacks, Lobster, and Oyster Boats; or Vessels for Pas sengers. Any Vessel or Vessels, or Craft navigating the River Thames above and below London Bridge, as far as Gravesend only. And Any Ship or Vessel entering inwards or outwards in ballast. * VESSELS BRINGING FLOUR AND MALT.-The following decisions have taken place, as regards vessels being wholly or nearly laden with those articles, viz. :-Any vessel whose cargo shall consist only of Flour and Malt.-Treas. Order, 30 March, 1818. Any Vessel whose Cargo shall principally consist of Corn and Flour.-Min. Com. Cus. 15 Dec. 1828; and by Min. Com. Cus., 6 Jan. 1831, the dock duty paid on four Vessels nearly laden with Flour from Liverpool, was remitted. The foregoing duties were imposed for the purpose of defraying the charges of certain improvements in the Port of London, for the greater convenience of Trade and Shipping, and for raising a fund for future contingent expenses. IV. c. 51, § 9.. 0 5 0 Before any debenture for the above Drawback shall be paid, the exporter of the Beer or Ale, or his principal clerk or manager, together with the Brewer thereof, or his Foreman, or Manager, shall make oath thereon before the proper officer of Excise, that such Beer or Ale was put on board the exporting ship as merchandize to be spent beyond the seas, and no part thereof for the ship's use, and that according to the best of his knowledge and belief the same has been brewed wholly from Malt which has been charged with and paid the duty of 2s. 7d. for every bushel thereof, and shall also specify in such oath the time when, and the place where; and the Brewer being an entered and licensed Brewer for sale, by whom such Beer or Ale was brewed, and that the quantity of Malt used in brewing thereof was in the proportion of not less than two bushels Imperial measure for every thirty-six gallons thereof.
