PREPARATIONS.

TO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION.

EXTRACT OF MALT.

During the past year we have been experimenting on improved machinery for the manufacture of EXTRACT OF MALT and similar preparations, and we now have the pleasure of announcing that we have brought these productions to perfection, and are able to offer preparations of this character, to the Medical Profession, far superior to any heretofore brought to their notice.

POINTS OF SUPERIORITY.

1st. The Malt we use is prepared by us expressly for the manufacture of these preparations, and is kiln dried at a very low temperature, so that none of its medicinal properties are injured. Malt dried at a high temperature produces a dark and bitter Extract, and contains little else than Sugar of Malt.

2d. We carry on evaporation at a temperature of 100 deg. Fahrenheit, with a vacuum of 29 inches Barometer, which results in the production of an Extract containing all the soluble constituents of the Malt in their unimpaired natural state. The great cost of such machinery has compelled manufacturers to resort to Open Pan, or low pressure steam boiling, in neither of which can the Extract be produced so as to preserve the Diastase, Phosphates or Albuminoids, and we therefore feel that we can justly claim that this is the only perfect Extract in the market, whether of foreign or home production.

MALTINE.

MALTINE is a concentrated extract of equal proportions of Malted Barley, Wheat and Oats, and contains all the medicinal and nutritious principles of these three important cereals.

It is far superior to the simple Extract of Malted Barley, as the Wheat contains much larger proportions of Nitrogenous matter and Phosphates, or bone producing constituents, and the Oats being much richer in fat and gluten or muscular elements.

We are certain that MALTINE and its compounds can be used with greater success by the Medical Profession than any remedy now known, in cases of general and nervous Debility, Pulmonary affections, Indigestion, imperfect Nutrition, Cholera Infantum and wasting diseases of children or adults, deficient Lactation, Convalescence from Fevers, and all cases where it is desirable to increase the vital forces and build up the system.

We manufacture the following Preparations, the formulas and doses of which are given in Dose Book and on Label.

MALTINE, or Extract of Malted Barley, Wheat and Oats.

MALTINE FERRATED.

MALTINE WITH PHOSPHATE QUINIA AND IRON.
MALTINE WITH PHOSPHATE QUINIA, IRON AND STRYCHNIA.
MALTINE WITH HYPOPHOSPHITES.

MALTINE WITH PEPSIN AND PANCREATINE.
MALTINE WITH BEEF AND IRON.

MALTINE WITH COD LIVER OIL.

We guarantee all goods of our manufacture in every respect. In ordering, please designate R. & C.'s manufacture.

TO PHYSICIANS.

The growing appreciation by the medical profession of the United States of

CINCHO-QUININE

is due to the fact that it retains the important alkaloids IN COMBINATION-a combination which in practice is preferable to perfect isolation or separation of these alkaloids.

In addition to its superior efficacy as a tonic and anti-periodic, it has the following advantages, which greatly increase its value to physicians:

1st. It exerts the full therapeutic influence of Sulphate of Quinine, in the same doses, without oppressing the stomach, creating nausea, or producing cerebral distress, as the Sulphate of Quinine frequently does; and it produces much less constitutional disturbance.

2d. It has the great advantage of being nearly tasteless. The bitter is very slight, and not unpleasant to the most sensitive, delicate woman or child

3d. It is less costly; the price will fluctuate with the rise and fall of barks, but will always be much less than the Sulphate of Quinine.

4th. It meets indications not met by that Salt.

Price Lists and Descriptive Catalogues furnished upon application.

The attention of the medical profession is invited to this instrument as the most perfect ever invented for treating Prolapsus Uteri, or Falling of the Womb. It is an Abdominal and Uterine Supporter combined.

The Abdominal Support is a broad morocco leather belt with elastic straps to buckle around the hips, with concave front, so shaped as to hold up the abdomen

The Uterine Support is a cup and stem made of very highly polished hard rubber, very light and durable, shaped to fit the mouth of the womb, with openings for the secretions to pass out, and which can be bent to any curve desired, by heating in very hot water.

The cup and stem is suspended to the belt by two soft elastic Rubber Tubes, which are fastened to the front of the belt by simple loops, pass down through the stem of the cup and up to the back of the belt. These soft rubber tubes being elastic, adapt themselves to all the varying positions of the body, and perform the service of the ligaments of the womb.

The Instrument is very comfortable to the patient, can be removed or replaced by her at will, can be worn at all times, will not interfere with nature's necessities, will not corrode, and is lighter than metal. It will answer for all cases of Anteversion. Retroversion, or any Flexion of the Womb, and is used by the leading Physicians with never failing success even in the most difficult cases.

Price-to Physicians, $8.00; to Patients, $12.00.

Instruments sent by mail, at our risk, on receipt of price, with 16 cents added for postage; or by express, C. O. D.

Messrs. BARTLETT, BUTMAN & PARKER:

Having used your "Common Sense Truss" in my practice for over ten years, having known of its adoption by the Board of Surgeons of the United States Army, of its having received the highest award at the American Centennial Exhibition, of its adoption and use by several of the Royal Families of Europe, and having examined almost every device of the kind, I feel at liberty to say that its pivot and ball and socket joints, set screws. correct retaining force, superior workmanship, etc., are all that a competent surgeon could wish, and it is worthy the term "Common Sense Truss."
