ROBERT BINGHAM,

For sending a threatening incendiary Letter.

Mr. KNAPP read the indictment, which charged the Prisoner, "That he, Robert Bingham, late of the Parish of Maresfield, Clerk, on the 16th day of December last, at Maresfield, in the County of Sussex, did knowingly and feloniously send to one Richard Jenner, of the Parish aforesaid, a certain incendiary› Letter, without any name subscribed thereto, threatening to shoot the said Richard Jenner, and burn his Barns, Houses, &c. which Letter was as follows:Mr Ri Ginner, Maresfield

Murder Fire and revenge fifty of us are detarmed to keep our land or have revenge thefore puson: Churchwards and farmers your Barns & Houses, shall burn if you take our land your lives two shall pay your sheep we will eat your oxen we can mame you stacks shall blaze Dick you shall be shuted as you comes from Markit or fares we are united an are sworn to stand biy one another-fifty good fellows.

Against the form of the statute in that case made and provided, and against the Peace of our Lord the King, his Crown and Dignity." There were several other Counts to the same effect.
