UNTO III. The Thanksgiving. NTO Thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto For that Thy name is near Thy wondrous works declare. Almighty and most merciful Father, from whom cometh down every good and perfect gift; we yield Thee praise and thanks for all Thy mercies. Thy goodness hath created us; Thy bounty hath sustained us; Thy fatherly discipline hath chastened and corrected us; Thy patience hath borne with us; Thy love hath redeemed us. Give us a heart to love and serve Thee, and enable us to show our thankfulness for all the goodness and mercy Thou hast conferred by giving up ourselves to Thy service, and cheerfully submitting in all things to Thy blessed will. Here may be introduced any other subject for Continue to us, we beseech Thee, Thy loving kindness, that we Thee all our days. may rejoice and be glad in Supply all our need according to Thy glorious riches; and make all grace to be multiplied towards us, that we always, having sufficiency in all things, may abound unto every good work. Teach us to be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, to make our requests known unto Thee; that the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, may keep our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with Thee, the Father, and the Holy Ghost, be glory everlasting. Amen. Then followeth the Prayer for Illumination, in these words, or at the discretion of the Minister. For Illumination. Almighty and everlasting God, the source of all life and joy, who, by the glad sound of the Gospel, hast called us to have part in Thy kingdom and glory, shine into our hearts, we beseech Thee, by Thy Word and Spirit, and draw us with the cords of Thy constraining grace; that we may heartily choose that good part which shall not be taken away from us, and give all diligence to make our calling and election sure; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Then may be sung a Psalm or Hymn. Amen. A Sermon is then preached, concluding with an Ascription of Praise; after which the Minister shall say— Let us Pray. FATE IV. Prayer after Sermon. MATHER of mercies, and God of all comfort, we joyfully acknowledge Thine infinite goodness in sending to us the day-spring from on high to enlighten our darkness, and guide our feet into the way of peace. We praise Thy name for those portions of Thy holy Word of which Thou hast made us partakers this day. Grant that they may bring forth fruit unto holiness in our whole life, to the glory of Thy name, the edification of our brethren, and the comfort of our souls in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Here may be introduced any special Prayers, as occasion may require. O Lord Jesus Christ, who hast died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Thee; be Thou our strength every morning, and our rest when the shadows of the evening are stretched out, O Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Then the Offering is collected; a Psalm or Hymn is sung; and the Minister closes the service by pronouncing one or other of these Benedictions— The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. Or The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you always.
