steadfast thoughts and kindled affections we may worship Thee in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Confession.

O God, who hast taught us that there is joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, accept, we beseech Thee, the confession of our sins which we now make to Thee. Father, we have sinned and have done evil in Thy sight; we have been disobedient and rebellious children, we have not loved Thee as we ought, but have broken Thy laws and been unthankful for Thy goodness. We have not loved our neighbour as ourselves, we have been selfish and unkind, we have forgotten the commandments of Christ our Master.

For Pardon and Peace.

Have mercy upon us, O God, according to Thy loving-kindness; pardon the sins we have committed this day, and remember not against us our former transgressions. Make Thy face to shine upon us; comfort us with Thy peace and love; and may it please Thee to show us the way of repentance, that in the time to come we may walk in the path of Thy commandments, and find in Thy service our chief joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Supplications.

Hear, O Lord, our humble supplications.

O Thou who knowest what things we have need of before we ask, give us grace, we beseech Thee, to seek first Thy kingdom and righteousness, and do Thou add to us all that is necessary for the body and for this present life. May we desire Thee more than all Thy gifts, that so desiring we may seek Thee, and seeking Thee may find Thee.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

Quench in us, O Thou Lord of our life, all wrong desires, and preserve us from vanity and inconstancy, from foolish thoughts and impure affections.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

Deliver us from selfishness and pride, from sloth and idleness, from narrowness of mind and hardness of heart.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

Cleanse our hearts from anger, malice, and envy, from covetousness and greed, and from all the fleshly lusts that war against the soul.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

Fill our hearts, we beseech Thee, with the grace of Thy Holy Spirit; make us kind, longsuffering, and gentle; give us grace to deny

ourselves, and to submit to Thy holy will, and cheerfully to serve our brethren as we have opportunity.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

Give us grace at all times to be lovers of truth, and servants of righteousness; deliver us from the fear of man and from all superstition and hypocrisy, that we may be the children of the light and of the day.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

In adversity help us to be patient; in prosperity keep us humble; and when we cannot see the way before us, may we yet fear no evil, knowing that Thou art with us.

We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.

Establish us in truth and goodness by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit; that which we know not do Thou reveal, that which is lacking to us do Thou supply. Let Thy grace be sufficient for us, and Thy strength be made perfect in our weakness.

We beseech Thee to hear us in all these our prayers: through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Lord's Prayer.

Amen.

(To be said by both Minister and Congregation.)

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will

be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Here, and at the end of all the other Prayers, the
Congregation say AMEN.

Then likewise shall be said

Praise ye the Lord:

The Lord's name be praised.

Then shall be said or sung a portion of the Psalter, ending with

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Then shall be read a Lesson from the Old Testament, before which shall be said

Hear the word of the Lord as it is written

Intercessions.

LORD, who hast commanded us to make prayers and intercessions for all men,

We beseech Thee to bless all nations with unity, peace, and concord, and to cause light and freedom to arise, and to increase in the whole earth.

Visit with heavenly blessings the Church of Christ which Thou hast called in all lands to bear witness of Thy grace, and bless her in all her gates with abundance of charity and peace.
