For Help in Trouble.

1.

O God, the High and Holy One who inhabitest eternity, and dwelleth with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones; glorify Thy grace, we beseech Thee, in the midst of our manifold infirmities and sins, and through all temptation hold us up by Thy mighty hand; that the trial of our faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, may be found unto praise, and honour, and glory, at the appearing of Jesus Christ; to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

2.

Assist us mercifully, O Lord, in these our supplications and prayers, and dispose the way of Thy servants towards the attainment of everlasting salvation; that among all the changes and chances of this mortal life, they may ever be defended by Thy most gracious and ready help, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

For Grace.
1.

O Lord God, strong to deliver, and mighty to save, who hast been the refuge and dwellingplace of Thy people in all generations, perfect and fulfil in us, we beseech Thee, the work of Thy converting grace, and be pleased to confirm in us every good purpose and deed; that having been called into the way of righteousness, we may have power to continue steadfastly in the same, until the day of Jesus Christ; to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and praise, world without end. Amen.

2.

Almighty and eternal God, who dost bid us walk as pilgrims and strangers in this passing world, seeking that abiding city which Thou hast prepared for us in heaven; we pray Thee so to govern our hearts by Thy Holy Spirit, that we, avoiding all fleshly lusts which war against the soul, and quietly obedient to the rule which Thou hast set over us, may show forth Thy glory before the world by our good works; for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

3.

O God, the strength of all them that put their trust in Thee, mercifully accept our prayers; and

because, through the weakness of our mortal nature, we can do no good thing without Thee, grant us the help of Thy grace, that in keeping of Thy commandments we may please Thee both in will and in deed; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Peace.

.

O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works, do proceed; give unto Thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey Thy commandments, and also that by Thee we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Amen.

2.

O God, who art the author of peace and lover of concord, in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom: defend us Thy humble servants in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in Thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversary, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Heavenly-Mindedness.

1.

O Almighty God, who alone canst order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men; grant unto Thy people that they may love the thing which Thou commandest, and desire that which Thou dost promise; that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2.

Almighty God, the former of our bodies and Father of our spirits, in whom we live, move, and have our being; shed abroad Thy love in our hearts, we beseech Thee, and cause the comfort of Thy heavenly grace to abound in us, as the earnest and pledge of joys to come; that, casting away all anxious thought for the transitory things of this world, we may seek first Thy kingdom and righteousness, and labour only for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

3.

O God, whose favour is life, and in whose presence there is fulness of peace and joy;

vouchsafe unto us, we beseech Thee, such an abiding sense of the reality and glory of those things which Thou hast prepared for them that love Thee, as may serve to raise us above the vanity of this present world, both in its pleasures and in its necessary trials and pains; so that under Thy guidance and help all things here shall work together for our everlasting salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

4.

Blessed be Thou, O God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to Thine. abundant mercy, hast begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved for us in heaven. Grant, we beseech Thee, that having this hope in us, we may be led by Thy grace to walk worthy of it. May we be crucified unto the world, and raised with Christ to newness of life. As risen with Him, enable us also in heart and mind to ascend with Him to heavenly places, and to seek those things which are above, where He sitteth at Thy right hand. And grant that, having our conversation in heaven, and our life hid with Christ in God, we may rest in the confident persuasion that when He who is our life shall appear, we also shall
