men; mercifully grant unto us, we beseech Thee, this same gift of the Spirit, to renew, illuminate, refresh, and sanctify our souls; to be over us and around us like the light and dew of heaven, and to be in us evermore as a well of water springing up into everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

2.

Most glorious and blessed God, who through the Holy Ghost hast made Thy one Catholic Church to be the body of Christ, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all; we humbly beseech Thee to grant unto us, and to all Thy people, such strong and steadfast faith in this great mystery of grace, that, being safely defended from all heresy and schism, we may ever abide in the unity of the Spirit, and so grow up into Him in all things, which is the Head, even Christ to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost ever one God, be all honour and praise, world without end. Amen.

3.

O Almighty God, who hast sent down the Holy Ghost upon Thine elect, endowing them with His manifold gifts, and knitting them together in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of Thy Son; grant unto us

grace to use all those Thy gifts alway to Thy honour and glory, and to abound in faith, hope, and charity, waiting for Thy Son from heaven; that when He shall appear, we with all Thy saints may be found of Him in peace, and by Him may be presented before Thy glorious presence with exceeding joy; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, O Father, in the unity of the same Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.

Amen.

4.

O Holy Ghost, Spirit of the Father and the Son, who by Thy quickening energy hast raised us up to a new life in Christ Jesus, and dost in mercy to our infirmities condescend to dwell in our mortal bodies as Thy consecrated temples; bring forth in our hearts and lives, we beseech Thee, the fruits of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, faith, meekness, and temperance; that so walking in Thee with all holy obedience, we may stand firm in the knowledge and love of the truth, against the wiles of the devil, may overcome the world, and be glorified in the fellowship of the Father and the Son; to whom, with Thee, who art coequal and coeternal God, we ascribe all honour, thanksgiving, and praise. Amen.

5.

O God, who at this time didst teach the hearts of Thy faithful people, by the sending to them the light of Thy Holy Spirit; grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in His holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

The Holy Trinity.

Almighty and everlasting God, who hast given unto us Thy servants grace, by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of the divine Majesty to worship the Unity; we beseech Thee that Thou wouldst keep us steadfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities; who livest and reignest one God, world without end. Amen.

All Angels.

O everlasting God, who hast ordained and constituted the services of Angels and men in a wonderful order; mercifully grant, that as Thy holy Angels alway do Thee service in

heaven, so by Thy appointment they may succour and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Communion of Saints.
1.

O God, the Father everlasting, whom the glorious hosts of heaven obey, and in whose presence patriarchs, prophets, apostles, martyrs, with all the spirits of the just made perfect, continually do live; fix the eye of our faith, we beseech Thee, with clear and full vision, on the great cloud of witnesses wherewith we are compassed about, that laying aside every weight, and the sin that doth so easily beset us, we may run with patience the race that is set before us, and obtain at last the crown of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2.

O Almighty God, who hast knit together Thine elect in one communion and fellowship, in the mystical Body of Thy Son Christ our Lord; grant us grace so to follow Thy blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those unspeakable joys which Thou hast prepared for them that unfeignedly love Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
