Wherefore, we glorify Thy name, we fall down before Thy throne, we worship and adore Thy glorious majesty; evermore praising Thee, and saying, Salvation be unto our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever. Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and Amen.

Prayer for the whole state of Christ's Church
Militant here in Earth.

Almighty and ever-living God, who by Thy holy apostle hast taught us to make prayers and supplications, and to give thanks, for all men, we humbly beseech Thee most mercifully to receive these our prayers, which we offer unto Thy divine majesty ; beseeching Thee to inspire continually the universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord. And grant that all they that do confess Thy holy name may agree in the Truth of Thy holy Word, and live in unity and godly love.

We beseech Thee also to save and defend all Christian kings, princes, and governors; and specially Thy servant Victoria, our Queen; that under her we may be godly and quietly governed. And grant unto her whole Council, and to all that are put in authority under her, that they may truly and impartially minister justice, to the punishment of wickedness and vice, and to the maintenance of Thy true religion and virtue.

Give grace, O heavenly Father, to all pastors and

ministers, that they may both by their life and doctrine set forth Thy true and lively Word, and rightly and duly administer Thy holy sacraments: and to all Thy people give Thy heavenly grace; and especially to this congregation here present, that, with meek heart and due reverence, they may hear and receive Thy holy Word, truly serving Thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life.

And we most humbly beseech Thee of Thy goodness, O Lord, to comfort and succour all them who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity. And we also bless Thy holy name for all Thy servants departed this life in Thy faith and fear; beseeching Thee to give us grace so to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of Thy heavenly kingdom. Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our only Mediator and Advocate.

Amen.

Thanksgivings.

1.

WE

E thank Thee for all the bounties of Thy providence; for health and strength, for food and raiment; for help and succour in times of need, for pity and consolation in times of sorrow; and for all the kindness Thou hast shown us from the beginning of our days until now. But above all, we thank Thee for Thine infinite love to us, miserable sinners; that Thou hast given Thy Son to be the propitiation for our sins; that Thou hast sent down Thy Holy

Spirit to sanctify our corrupt natures; that Thou dost favour us with the means of grace, and comfort us with the hope of glory.

Help us, we beseech Thee, to acknowledge Thy goodness, in all time to come, by trusting entirely in Thee, by contentment with the portion Thou hast given us, by charity to the poor and needy, by zeal for Thy truth, and by a cheerful obedience to Thy commandments. Amen.

2.

We render thanks unto Thy name, O God, most high; for Thou hast created us in Thine own image; Thou hast given us souls to know and love Thee; Thou hast made us but a little lower than the angels; Thou hast supplied all our wants; Thou hast loaded us with Thy benefits; Thou hast caused our cup to

run over.

We have sinned against Thee, but Thou hast spared us; we have wandered from Thee, but Thou hast sought us; we were lost, but Thou hast saved us. O God our Saviour, Thou hast broken our chains, that we might be free; Thou hast healed our diseased souls, that we might not perish: Thou hast enriched us who were poor with the treasures of Thy salvation; Thou hast made us who had nothing to inherit all things; and even now, all things are ours. Therefore, with one heart and with one voice, we laud and magnify Thy glorious name; and, with Thy saints on earth and in heaven, we ascribe blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, for ever and for ever. Amen.

Prayers for Ellumination.

1.

O God, whose Word is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, grant unto us who are here before Thee that we may receive Thy truth into our hearts, in faith and love. By it may we be taught and guided, upheld and comforted; that we be no longer children in understanding, but grow to the stature of perfect men in Christ, and be prepared to every good word and work, to the honour of Thy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2.

Amen.

O God, who hast promised that in the last days the mountain of the Lord's house shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it; send forth Thy light and Thy truth now unto Thy servants; leading them in the paths of Thine ordinances, and in the ways of Thy commandments; that we and Thy whole Church, perfect in every member, complete in holiness and instructed in righteousness, may be presented before Thee without spot or blemish, in the day of the appearing and kingdom of the Lord Jesus. Amen.

3.

Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning; grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of

Thy holy Word we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which Thou hast given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ.

4.

Amen.

Prevent us, O Lord, in all our doings, with Thy most gracious favour, and further us with Thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in Thee, we may glorify Thy holy name, and finally by Thy mercy obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayers after Sermon.

1.

O God, who art the guide and shepherd of all faithful souls, grant unto us who have now tasted of Thy goodness, that the eyes of our spirit may never cease to see Thee, nor our ears to hear Thy voice; that so we, constantly remembering Thy love and goodness towards men, may with a pure heart and faithful mind give ourselves to serve and follow Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
