structed us in the way of salvation, shine into our hearts, we beseech Thee, by Thy Holy Spirit, that we being filled with the knowledge of Thy will, and animated with the hope of Thy promises, may in all things adorn the doctrine of our Saviour, and walk worthy of God, who hath called us unto His kingdom and glory. Amen. 3. Almighty God, who hast builded Thy Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner-stone; grant that, being illuminated through the words of Thy prophets, and joined together in unity of spirit through the doctrine, precepts, and ministry of Thine apostles, we may grow unto a holy temple in the Lord, and may be builded together for Thy habitation, through the Spirit. Amen. 4. O God our Father, we beseech Thee to accept our worship. Pardon its imperfections; and grant that henceforth, putting all our trust in Thy wellbeloved Son, enlightened by His teaching, guided by His example, and sanctified by His Spirit, we may walk in newness of life, and so prepare for that blessed life which Thou hast promised to Thy children in heaven. Hear us, O merciful Father, in these our supplications, for the sake of Thy dear Son Jesus Christ, our Lord; to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen. 5. O Lord our God, who hast shown great mercy to us Thy sinful and unworthy servants, upon whom Thy holy name is called, put us not to shame for our hope in Thee; but grant us, Lord, all these our petitions, and count us worthy to love and fear Thee with all our hearts, and to do in all things Thy most holy will. For Thou, O God, art good, and lovest all mankind. And to Thee we ascribe all glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, now and for evermore. Amen. 6. O heavenly Father, that which is good and profitable do Thou supply unto us. Give us the peace that cometh from above, and also peace in this world. Grant that we may spend the remainder of this day in Thy fear; and may Thy goodness and mercy follow us all our days, and may we dwell in Thy house for Amen. ever. 7. O God, who hast revealed to us the light of Thy Gospel, and called us into the fellowship of Thy Son Jesus Christ, bless to us Thy Word which we have heard this day; and grant that we may put away the works of darkness, and may walk in purity, uprightness, and sincerity; that we may have fellowship with Thee, for Thou art light, and with Thee there is no darkness at all; that, when the shadows of this mortal life are passed away, we may behold the King in His beauty, and be made partakers of His everlasting glory; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 8. Be present, O Lord, to our prayers, and protect us by day and by night; keep us watchful for the appearing of Thy beloved Son; and grant that in all the changes of this world, we may ever be strengthened by Thine unchangeableness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be the glory, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. 9. Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications unto Thee, and dost promise that when two or three are gathered together in Thy name Thou wilt grant their requests; fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of Thy servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of Thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen. Ascriptions of Glory. 1. Amen. 3. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God, His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 4.
