Blessed Lord, with whom do rest the souls of Thy departed saints, and who hast said unto us by Thy Spirit: Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord; enable us to be followers of them, as they were followers of Christ; and so to run our race with patience, and to fight the good fight of faith, that, our course being finished and our warfare accomplished, we may join the innumerable company of Thy redeemed.

Then a Psalm or Hymn is sung, or, when con

Then, the Congregation kneeling, the Minister shall say-

O God, Giver of all good, and Fountain of all mercies, in whom are the springs of our life; all glory, thanks, and praise be unto Thee for Thine unfailing goodness; for Thy faithfulness which is from one generation to another; for Thy mercies which are new every morning, fresh every moment, and more than we can number;

for seed-time and harvest, and summer and winter, and nights and days throughout the year; for food, and raiment, and shelter; for health and reason; for childhood and age, and youth and manhood; for Thy fatherly hand ever upon us in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in life and in death; for friends, kindred, and benefactors; for home and country; for Thy Church and for Thy Gospel.

Here may be introduced any other subject for
Thanksgiving.

Yea, Lord, for that there is nothing for which we may not bless and thank Thee, therefore do we pay our vows now in the presence of all Thy people, humbly beseeching Thee to accept this our service, which we offer in the name and through the infinite merits of Thy Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Then followeth the Prayer for Illumination, in these words, or at the discretion of the Minister.

For Illumination.

Cause Thy Church to arise and shine, O Lord, and let her ministers be clothed with righteousness and salvation; that Thy word may not return unto Thee void, but have free course and be glorified; prospering in the thing whereunto Thou hast sent it, and prevailing mightily to turn

men from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive the forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified, by faith that is in Christ; to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

Then may

be sung a Psalm or Hymn.

A Sermon is then preached, concluding with an Ascription of Praise; after which the Minister shall say—

Prayer after Sermon.

GOD, who didst teach the hearts of Thy faithful people, by sending to them the light of Thy Holy Spirit, grant us, by the same Spirit, to have a right understanding of Thy saving truth. Visit, we pray Thee, this congregation with Thy love and favour; and enlighten our minds more and more with the light of the everlasting Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Here

may be introduced any special Prayers,

as occasion may require.

O Lord God, our life, the light of the faithful, the strength of those who labour, and the repose

of the blessed dead; grant us a peaceful night, free from all disturbance; that, after an interval of quiet sleep, we may by Thy bounty, at the return of light, be endued with activity by the Holy Spirit, and enabled in security to render thanks to Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Then the Offering is collected; a Psalm or Hymn is sung; and the Minister closes the service by pronouncing one or other of these Benedictions

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Or

The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you always.

Morning Service.

The Congregation being assembled, Divine Service may begin with the singing of a Psalm or Hymn; then, the Congregation still standing, the Minister shall

say

ONE thing have I desired of the Lord, that

will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.

Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple.

Then, the Congregation kneeling, the Minister shall
