I.

Prayer of Invocation.

LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who

hast promised that in all places where Thou dost record Thy name, Thou wilt meet with Thy servants to bless them; fulfil now Thy promise unto us, and make us joyful in Thy house of prayer; and grant that our worship, being offered in the name and in the Spirit of Thy Son, may be acceptable unto Thee, and profitable unto ourselves, through our only Mediator and Advocate, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Confession.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, Thou art faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We confess, O God, that we have sinned against Thee, and are unworthy of Thy mercy. We have not loved Thee, our Father; we have grieved the Holy Ghost, the earnest of our inheritance; we have not waited for the coming of Thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord; we have not been pure and holy; we have not been

faithful and true; we have been entangled in the world, and overcome of evil. We have lived in confusion and strife; we have done wrong unto our brother, and have not repented of the wrong; we have broken the unity of Thy holy Church, and caused men to forget and blaspheme Thy holy name. Our faith hath failed us; our love hath grown cold; our hope hath not been as an anchor of the soul sure and steadfast, entering within the veil.

We remember these things before Thee; we cast ourselves upon Thy compassion; we cry unto Thee, Be merciful unto us, sinners. Hear us as we call unto Thee in the name of Jesus Christ, who died for our offences, and rose again for our justification; that, obtaining of Thee forgiveness of all our sins, and being filled with Thy Holy Spirit, we may be enabled evermore to please Thee both in body and in soul. Amen.

For Pardon and Peace.

Almighty and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that Thou hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent; create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of Thee,

the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Supplications.

Amen.

O God, the Fountain of all truth and grace, who hast called us out of darkness into marvellous light by the glorious Gospel of Thy Son, grant unto us power, we beseech Thee, to walk worthy of our vocation, with all lowliness and meekness, endeavouring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace; that we may have our fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Enable us to perform our appointed duties with diligence, to guide our affairs with discretion, and in all our ways to acknowledge Thee.

Feed us with food convenient for us; bestow upon us health of body and soundness of mind; and further our lawful undertakings with Thy blessing.

Restrain us from all intemperance and excess, from all vanity in speech and behaviour; and give us grace to be sober and to watch unto

prayer.

O God, who didst suffer Thine own Son to be tempted that He might be able to succour them that are tempted, we beseech Thee to save us from those snares and temptations by which we are continually beset; and so to strengthen us

mightily by Thy good Spirit, that in all things we may be more than conquerors through Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood.

Amen.

Here may be introduced any other subject for

Supplication.

O Thou who givest liberally unto all men and upbraidest not, be pleased now to bestow upon us those things which we have asked in the name of Christ, and to forgive our unworthiness in asking. Preserve us in the faith and fear of Thy holy name unto our life's end; keep us watchful for the coming of Thy Son; and bring us at last into Thy heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name and words we pray:

The Lord's Prayer.

(To be said by both Minister and Congregation.)

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Here, and at the end of all the other Prayers, the
Congregation say AMEN.

Then likewise shall be said

O Lord, open Thou our lips:

And our mouth shall show forth Thy praise.

Then shall be said or sung a portion of the Psalter, ending with

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Then shall be read a Lesson from the Old Testament, before which shall be said—
