Proceedings in the House WEDNESDAY, January 3, 1934. Mr. WILSON. Mr. Speaker, it is with profound sorrow that I announce the death of my colleague, the Honorable BOLIVAR E. KEMP, a Representative from the State of Louisiana. It is a great loss to his district, the State, and the Nation. He was my personal friend, and cooperated in every way in legislation for the best interests of his district and the State. I offer the following resolution. The Clerk read as follows: House Resolution 205 Resolved, That the House has heard with profound sorrow of the death of Hon. BOLIVAR E. KEMP, a Representative from the State of Louisiana. Resolved, That the Clerk communicate these resolutions to the Senate and transmit a copy thereof to the family of the deceased. The resolution was agreed to. Mr. BYRNS. Mr. Speaker, out of respect to the memory of our deceased colleague, I move that the House do now adjourn. The motion was agreed to; accordingly (at 2 o'clock and 39 minutes p.m.) the House adjourned until tomorrow, Thursday, January 4, 1934, at 12 o'clock noon. MONDAY, January 8, 1934. A message from the Senate, by Mr. Horne, its enrolling clerk, announced that the Senate had passed the following resolutions: Senate Resolution 119 Resolved, That the Senate has heard with profound sorrow the announcement of the death of Hon. BOLIVAR E. KEMP, late a Representative from the State of Louisiana. Resolved, That the Secretary communicate these resolutions to the House of Representatives and transmit a copy thereof to the family of the deceased. Resolved, That as a further mark of respect to the memory of the deceased Representative, the Senate do now adjourn. |
