Be there my guides to lead the way; ET me with light and truth be blest,

Till on thy holy hill I reft,

And well-tun'd harps with fongs of praise,
Shall all my grateful hours employ..

So much oppreft with anxious care?
On God, thy God, for aid rely,

Who will thy ruin'd feate repair.

Lord, fend out thy light and truth,
And lead me with thy grace,

Which may conduct me to thy hill,
And to thy dwelling-place.

2. Then fhall I to thy altar go,
With joy to worship there;
And on my harp give thanks to thee,
O God, my God most dear.

3. By him I have deliverance...
From all my pain and grief;
He is my God, and doth alway
At need fend me relief.

4. To Father, Son, and Holy-Ghost,
Immortal glory be;

As was, and is, and fhall be ftill,
To all eternity.

PSALM 44.

AWAKE, arife; let feeming sleep

No longer thee detain;

Nor let us, Lord, who fue to thee,
For ever fue in vain.

2. O wherefore hideft thou thy face
From our afflicted ftate?

Whofe fouls and bodies fink to earth,
With grief's oppreffive weight.

3. Arife, O Lord, and timely hafte
To our deliv'rance make:
Redeem us, Lord,-if not for ours,
Yet for thy mercy's fake.

4. To Father, Son, and Holy Gohft,
The God whom we adore,
Be glory; as it was, is now,
And fhall be evermore.

PSALM 46.

GP prefent help when dangers prefs;

OD is our refuge in diftrefs,

A

In him undaunted we'll confide :

Tho'

Tho' earth were from her center toft,
And mountains in the ocean loft,

Torn piece-meal by the roaring tide. 2. A gentler stream with gladness still, The city of our Lord fhall fill,

The royal feat of God most nigh: God dwells in Sion, whofe fair tow'rs Shall mock th' affaults of earthly pow'rs, While his Almighty aid is nigh.

3. Come, fee the wonders he hath wrought, On earth what defolation brought,

How he has calm'd the jarring world: He broke the warlike fpear and bow, With them the thund'ring chariots too Into devouring flames were hurl'd.

4. Submit to God's almighty fway, For him the heathen fhall obey,

And earth her fov'reign Lord confefs; The Lord of hofts conducts our arms, Our tow'r of refuge in alarms, As to our fathers in diftrefs.
