ETERNAL and ever-blessed God, who art the Author of our life, and the End of our pilgrimage; We beseech Thee so to guide us by Thy Word and Spirit, amid all perils and temptations, that we may not wander from Thy way, nor stumble upon the dark mountains; but may finish our course in safety, and come to our eternal rest in Thee; through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

O LORD God, the Light of the faithful, the Strength of those who labour, and the Repose of the blessed dead; We bless Thee for all Thy saints who have witnessed in their lives a good confession, and especially for those dear unto us who have fallen asleep in Jesus. Grant us grace, O Lord, so to follow their good example, that we may be one with them in spirit, and finally share in their eternal rest; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

And the Prayer shall close with the Benediction, if there be a Minister present, or with this

ASCRIPTION.

NOW unto Him that is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy; to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

THE COMMANDMENTS.

This Order may be used as a separate Service: or in place of the Sunday Service down to the Hymn before the Sermon.

After the singing of

A HYMN

Let the Leader read the SENTENCES, the company answering him. Leader. Blessed are the undefiled in the way: who walk in the law of the Lord.

Answer. Order my steps in Thy Word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

Leader. Blessed are they that keep His testimonies: and that seek Him with the whole heart. Answer. With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments.

Then the Leader shall say,

Let us pray.

THE INVOCATION.

ALMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts are open, all

desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Thee, and worthily magnify Thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then the Leader shall read THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, and the company shall, after every Commandment, ask God's mercy for their transgressions in time past, and grace to keep the Law in time to come. GOD spake all these words, saying,

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in

the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generations of them that hate Me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His Name in vain.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Remember the Sabbath-day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not kill.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not steal.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Lord, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Lord, have mercy upon us, and write all these Thy laws in our hearts, we beseech Thee.

Then the Leader shall say,

Hear also what our Lord Jesus Christ saith:

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

After a short pause let the Leader continue in Prayer; saying,

WE confess to Thee, Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, that we have grievously sinned_in thought, word, and deed. Make us truly contrite. Fill us with holy fear, and give us grace to amend our lives according to Thy Word, for the glory of Thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of His great mercy hath promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn to Him; Have mercy upon you; pardon and deliver you from all your sins; confirm and strengthen you in all goodness; and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

NOW unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us; unto Him be glory and dominion in the Church by Christ Jesus, throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

THE BEATITUDES.

This Order may be used as a separate Service: or in place of the Sunday Service, down to the Hymn before the Sermon.

After the Singing of

A HYMN

Let the Leader read the SENTENCES, the company answering him. Leader.

Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.

Answer. Bow down Thine ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy.

Leader.

Therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be

gracious unto you, and therefore will He be exalted that He may have mercy upon you. Answer. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee.

Then the Leader shall say,

Let us pray.

THE INVOCATION.

MERCIFUL God, we beseech Thee to cast Thy bright beams of light into our hearts, that we may discern the spiritual laws of Thy kingdom, and graciously incline us to a true obedience that we may not only hear, but also receive, these heavenly blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Then the Leader shall read THE BEATITUDES of the Lord Jesus; and the company shall after every Beatitude, humbly ask God that it may be fulfilled in their hearts.

BLESSED are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the king

dom of heaven.

Lord, be gracious unto us, and help us to obtain this blessing.
