The common stage variant "Constantia Neville may go to the Devil" has no warrant in the early editions, though it is possible that Quick was tempted by the rhyme and made the change, a proceeding which would somewhat justify the charge of vulgarity brought by Walpole against the play.

Epil. I. This Epilogue was spoken by Mrs Bulkley (d. 1792) as "Miss Hardcastle." It appears in the editio princeps between Garrick's Prologue and the Dramatis Persona.
