income of two thousand pounds, and to each of the Canons of the same church an average annual income of one thousand pounds; but such provision was not to affect any Dean or Canon in possession at the passing of the same Act:

"And whereas, by the said secondly recited Act, it is declared and enacted, that, notwithstanding such last recited provision, it shall be lawful to carry such purpose into effect by any mode of payment or contribution which may be deemed fit, as well as by the mode in the said first recited Act specified :

"And whereas the present Dean of the said collegiate church of Westminster has been appointed since the passing of the said recited Acts:

"We, therefore, having made the inquiry and calculation required by the said first-recited Act, humbly recommend and propose, that, in order to leave to the Dean and Canons of Westminster, respectively, appointed or to be appointed after the passing thereof, the average annual incomes in the said Act specified, there shall be paid to us, in the manner and at the times hereinafter mentioned, and for the purposes of the said recited Acts, one equal fifth part of all monies at any time accruing and payable to such Dean, and one equal sixth part of all monies at any time accruing and payable to any such Canon; and to this end we recommend and propose, that the Treasurer, or other proper officer or officers of the said collegiate church, shall, from time to time, divide each and every sum of money, from whatsoever source arising, which, according to the statutes or usage of the said Chapter, would be payable to the Dean, or, in case of the vacancy of the deanry, would, if such vacancy had not occurred, have been payable to the Dean making such vacancy, in respect of the deanry of the said church, into five

equal parts, and that four of such parts shall be paid to the Dean for the time being, or, in the case of such vacancy, to such uses as shall be in accordance with the statutes or usage of the said Chapter, and the remaining part shall be paid to us or to our order; and that the said present Dean shall pay to us, or to our order, one fifth part of all monies already received by him in respect of his said deanry since the date of his appointment thereto; and that the said Treasurer, or other officer or officers, shall, from time to time, divide each and every sum of money, from whatever source arising, which, according to the statutes or usage aforesaid, would be payable to any Canon appointed after the passing of the said first-recited Act, or, in case of the vacancy of a canonry (not being a suspended canonry, nor either of the canonries whereto the rectories of Saint Margaret and Saint John are, by the said first-recited Act, annexed), would, if such vacancy had not occurred, have been payable to the Canon making such vacancy, into six equal parts, and that five of such parts shall be paid to the Canon for the time being, or, in the case of such vacancy, to such uses as shall be in accordance with the statutes or usage of the said Chapter, and the remaining part shall be paid to us or to our order:

"And we further recommend and propose, that nothing herein contained shall prevent us from recommending and proposing any other measures relating to the Dean and Canons of the said collegiate church of Westminster, in conformity with the provisions of the said recited Acts, or either of them."

And whereas notice of the said scheme has been duly given to the Dean and Chapter of

the collegiate church of St. Peter, Westminster, and no objection has been made thereto :

And whereas the said scheme has been approved by Her Majesty in Council; now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice of Her said Council, is pleased hereby to ratify the said scheme, and to order and direct that the same and every part thereof shall be effectual in law immediately from and after the time when this Order shall have been duly published in the London Gazette, pursuant to the said Acts; and Her Majesty, by and with the like advice, is pleased hereby to direct, that this Order be forthwith registered by the Registrar of the diocese of London. THIS day, the Lords being met, a message was sent to the Honourable House of Commons by the Gentlemen Usher of the Black Rod, acquainting them, that The Lords, authorized by virtue of a Commission under the Great Seal, signed by Her Majesty, for delaring Her Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses, do desire the immediate attendance of the Honourable House in the House of Peers to hear the Commission read; and the Commons being come thither, the said Commission, empowering the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, and several other Lords therein named, to declare and notify the Royal Assent to the said Acts, was read accordingly, and the Royal Assent given to

An Act to apply the sum of eight millions, out of the Consolidated Fund, to the service of the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-three.

An Act to alter the hours within which certain oaths and declarations are to be made and subscribed in the House of Peers.
