2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day; a sabbath of rest to the Lord; whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath-day.
4 And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the chil. dren of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord commanded, saying,
5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord : whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord ; gold, and silver, and brass, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim-wood.
8 And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense, and onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breast-plate. And every wisehearted among you shall come, and make all that the Lord hath commanded. And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses.
21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord's offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
25 And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen. And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats' hair. .
27 And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set ; for the ephod, and for the breast-plate ; and spice, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.
29 The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses. .
30 And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah ; and he hath filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship:
32 And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass : And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.
34 And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.
i Then wrought Bezaleel and Aboliab, and every wisehearted man, in whom the Lord put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the Lord had commanded.
4 And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made ; And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the Lord commanded to make.
6 And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nos woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
And they wrought the work of the tabernacle, or holy tent, and made for it ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet : with cherubims of curious work, and taches of gold to couple them together, that it might be one tabernacle. '
And they made other curtains of goats' hair to go over it, with taches of brass to couple them together. And they made another covering of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of badgers' skins above that.
And they made boards and bars for the sides of the tabernacle of shittim-wood, and sockets for the boards of silver, and they overlaid the boards with gold.
And they made à vail of blue and scarlet, and fine twined linen ; with cherubims of curious work : and they made, thereunto four pillars of shittim-wood, overlaid with gold..
And they made a hanging for the tabernacle door of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of needlea work, and the five pillars of it were overlaid with gold.
And Bezaleel made the ark, or holy chest, of shittim-wood, and overlaid it with gold within and without, and made a ;. crown of gold to it rouiid about': and rings of gold on the sides of it; and staves of shittim-wood, overlaid with gold, to put into the rings, to bear the ark.
And he made the mercy-seat of pure gold, to put on the kop of the ark. And be made two cherubims of gold on the two ends of the mercy-seat. And the wings of the cherubims were spread out on high on the mercy-seat : and the faces of the cherubims were towards each other.
* For the Lord said unto Moses, when he gave commandment concerning these things, Thou shalt put the mercy-seat above upon the ark : and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.
And there I will meet with thee, and I will communc with thee from above the mercy-seat, from between the two che. rubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
And Bezaleel made the table of Shittim-wood, and overjaid it with gold. And he made the candlestick of pure gold, with six branches growing out of the sides thereof, three on one side, and three on the other. And he made the incense altar, and the altar for burnt offerings, and all the vessels of the altar.
And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made holy garments for Aaron. And they made coats of fine linen of wove work for Aaron and his sons.
Thus was all the work of the tabernacle finished. And Moses did look upon the work : and, behold, they had done it according to the commandment of the Lord. And Moses blessed them.
18 And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and seni up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars. And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the Lord commanded Moses.
20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark. And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as the Lord commanded Moses.
22 And he put all things in order, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail. Thus it came to pass, in the first month, in the second year, in the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up..
• Exodus, chap. XXV. verse 31, 32.
.. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
LESSON LXI. Leviticus, CHAP. VIII. IX. XXVI.
NUMBERS, CHAP. I.
AND the Lord commanded Moses to consecrate Aaron and n bis sons for the priests offices; and he did so. And Moses put upon Aaron the high priest's garments, and anointed Aaron with oil to sanctify him. And Moses offered the sacrifices which the Lord commanded.
And Aaron and his sons did all things that the Lord commanded them : seven days they abode at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And on the eighth day, Aaron offered sacrifices as the high priest.
22 And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them : and came down from offering of the sin-offering, and the burnt-offering, and peace-offerings.
23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people : and the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the people.
24 And there came a fire out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar the burnt-offering and the fat.
And the Lord made many judgments, and statutes, and laws, for his people Israel in Mount Sinai, and Moses declared them unto the people. ,
And the Lord said, Ye shall make no idol, nor graven image, nor image of stone in your land, to bow down to it: I am the Lord your God. Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary : I am the Lord.
And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying; .
2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children . of Israel, after their families, by the house of their father's, with the number of their names, every male by their polls ;
3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel : thou and Aaron shall number them
by their armies. And with you there shall be a man of every tribe, every one head of the house of his fathers."
19 So Moses numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai ; and all they that were numbered, were six hundred thousand and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
47 But the Levites, after the tribe of their fathers, were not numbered among them. For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying, Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel :
50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof, and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down : and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts. But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel : and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord' commanded Moses, so did they.
LESSON LXII. NUMBERS, Chap. IX. X.
AND the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of SL Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2 Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season. And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai : according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
15 And on the day the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony; and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it Were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and
