THE LAW OF LIFE INSURANCE,

WITH A CHAPTER ON ACCIDENT INSURANCE.
BY CHARLES CRAWLEY, M.A.,

OF LINCOLN'S INN, ESQ., BARRISTER-AT-LAW, AND FELLOW OF DOWNING COLLEGE,

CAMBRIDGE.

OPINIONS OF THE PRESS.

"The most important English work on the law of life insurance which has appeared since the publication in 1868 of the second edition of Mr. Bunyon's work on the same subject. In that interval the law of life insurance has grown considerably in extent by reason both of legislation and of judicial decisions, and a work dealing with the entire subject, including the alteration and additions which have been made since the appearance of Mr. Bunyon's book, was wanted by the legal profession and, to some extent by the public also a want which Mr. Crawley's book seems to us satisfactorily to meet. Mr. Crawley's book will be a welcome addition to the library of the lawyer, and will be found of use by that part of the public which is interested in the subject of life insurance."-Athenæum.

"Few more valuable technical works have been published of late than Mr. Crawley's 'Life Insurance.' The author has a thorough knowledge of the subject; he handles his facts with firmness and decision, and evolves from them principles, the lucidity of which should render them capable of being grasped by the dullest mind. In the course

of the work several hundred cases are quoted, and these are made easily accessible to the reader by a copious index. These features render the book the standard legal work on life insurance, and we confidently recommend it to the notice of all who are concerned in any way with the subject. . . . . There is hardly a point dealing with the legal aspect of life insurance which does not receive notice at Mr. Crawley's hands, and the number of cases which he quotes to illustrate them testifies to his powers of classification and research. In short, the work is excellently got up, and is in every respect a credit to both author and publisher. It is a model of what a legal work should be."-Money.

THE LAW OF BILLS OF SALE,

AS MODIFIED BY

THE BILLS OF SALE ACT (1878) AMENDMENT ACT, 1882.

WITH

AN APPENDIX OF STATUTES AND PRECEDENTS.

BY HARRY NEWSON, Esq., LL.B. LOND.
Of the Middle Temple, Barrister-at-Law;

Author of "A Digest of the Law of Shipping and Marine Insurance."

OPINIONS OF THE PRESS.

"The book is one of the most satisfactory performances on a branch of the law which has recently suffered amendment by the Legislature that we have ever seen." -Law Times.

"Mr. Newson has dealt in a most comprehensive manner with a subject requiring the greatest nicety of treatment, and he has gathered up the threads of much legislation and interpretation with commendable skill. . . . His digest of the modified measures will be esteemed outside the ranks of the profession to whom he mainly addresses the compilation."-Citizen

A TREATISE ON THE

LAW OF JOINT STOCK COMPANIES,

COMPRISING :

THE COMPANIES' ACTS, 1862 and 1880,

AND THE RULES AND ORDERS;

WITH PRACTICAL FORMS FOR THE USE OF COMPANIES.

BY HENRY HURRELL,

Of the Western Circuit and Inner Temple,

AND

CLARENDON G. HYDE,

Of the Oxford Circuit and the Middle Temple; Barristers-at-Law.

OPINIONS OF THE PRESS.

"The authors of this work in their Preface intimate that they have had in view a book which shall be of assistance to directors and others interested in the management of companies, and express a hope that the legal profession will find it useful. There can be no doubt but that they have carried out their objects in a most clear and careful style. We have seldom seen a work which, while admittedly written in plain everyday phraseology, is so carefully fortified with leading cases. . . The book contains a useful list of forms of memoranda of association suitable to a large number of different enterprises as various as a bank and an hotel company, with articles of association and other forms, with the full text of the various Company acts."-Stubbs' Gazette.

.

"The work comprises, in a readable and agreeable form, a good deal of information which will be of service to persons connected with companies. The appendix contains, among other things, a good set of articles of association."-Law Times.

"The aim of the joint authors has been to collect the general law upon each particular branch of this many-sided subject, together with such general directions and useful forms as are occasionally requisite for general practice. Each branch is treated with admirable fulness of information. . The work, which has a capital index, should be a standard reference on the innumerable points of difficulty connected with joint stock enterprise. To directors and others associated in general management it should be of as much value as to the legal profession."-Citizen.
