The King has been pleased to appoint Doctor John Abercrombie to be First Physician to His Majesty in Scotland.

The KING's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

THIS day the Right Reverend Father in God Charles James Lord Bishop of Chester was, by command of His Majesty, sworn of His Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, and took his place at the Board accordingly.

Westminster, July 28, 1828.

This day, the Lords being met, a message was sent to the Honourable House of Com mons by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, acquainting them, that The Lords, authorised by virtue of a Commission under the Great Seal, signed by His Majesty, for declaring His Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses, do desire the immediate attendance of the Honourable House in the House of Peers to hear the Commission read; and the Commons being come thither, the said Commission, empowering the Lord High. Chancellor of Great Britain, and several other Lords therein named, to declare and notify the Royal Assent to the said Acts, was read accordingly, and the Royal Assent given to

An Act to apply the sums of money therein mentioned for the service of the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight, and to appropriate the supplies granted in this session of Parliament.

An Act to allow sugar to be delivered out of warehouse to be refined.

An Act for rendering valid bonds, covenants, and other assurances for the resignation of Ecclesiastical preferments in certain specified cases.

An Act to consolidate and amend the laws relating to savings banks.

And oné private Act.

St. James's-Palace, July 31, 1828.

THIS day His Excellency the Prince de Polignac, Ambassador from His Most Christian Majesty, had a private audience of His Majesty to deliver a letter from his Sovereign; and the Count de Bjornstjerna, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary from the King of Sweden and Norway, had a private audience of His Majesty to deliver his credentials; to which they were introduced by the Earl of Aberdeen, His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and conducted by Sir Robert Chester, Knt. Master of the Ceremonies.

Whitehall, August 4, 1828.

The King has been pleased to order a congé d'elire to pass the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, empowering the Dean and Chapter of the Metropolitical Church of Canterbury, to elect an Archbishop of that See, the same being void by the death of the Most Reverend Father in God Doctor Charles Manners Sutton; and His Majesty has also been pleased by His royal sign manuel to recommend to the said Dean and Chapter, the Right Reverend Father in God Doctor William Howley, now Bishop of London, to be by them elected Archbishop of the said See of Canterbury.

The King has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting to Spencer Perceval, Esq. the office of Clerk of the Ordnance of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
