Mr. STEFAN. This morning we are holding hearings on the judiciary appropriation bill for the fiscal year 1949. We will insert in the record pages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 4A of the justifications.

Mr. STEFAN. We will take up first the items for the United States Supreme Court, and we have present with us Mr. Justice Black, Mr. Justice Burton, Mr. Waggaman, marshal, and members of the staff.

We will put in the record at this point pages 5 and 6 of the justifications which summarize the requirements for the Supreme Court for fiscal year 1949.
