LONDON GAZETTE of JANUARY 14, 1851.

THIS Gazette commences with an Order in Council, dated the 12th day of December 1850, directing that the Public Health Act, 1848, except the section numbered 50 in the copies printed by Her Majesty's printers, should be applied to and be in force within and throughout the parish of Thurmaston, in the county of Leicester, and that such place should be and constitute a district for the purposes of the said Public Health Act; that a Local Board of Health should be established therein; and containing full instructions and regulations for the election of the members of the said Board.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint James Dowland, Esq. to be Collector of Internal Revenue for the Island of Mauritius.

In pursuance of the directions of an Act, passed in the twenty-fourth year of the reign of His late Majesty King George the Third, intituled "An Act to repeal so much of two Acts, made "in the tenth and fifteenth years of the reign of "His present Majesty, as authorizes the Speaker "of the House of Commons to issue his warrant "to the Clerk of the Crown for making out writs "for the election of Members to serve in Par"liament, in the manner therein mentioned, and "for substituting other provisions for the like "purposes:"

I do hereby give notice, that the death of the Right Honourable John Hume Egerton, commonly called Viscount Alford, late a Member serving in this present Parliament for the county of Bedford, hath been certified to me in writing, under the hands of two Members serving in this present Parliament, and that I shall issue my warrant to the Clerk of the Crown to make out a new writ for the electing of a Member to serve in this present Parliament for the said county, at the end of fourteen days after the insertion of this notice in the London Gazette.
