Notice is hereby given, that Arthur Eden, Esq. has resigned the Office of Assistant-Comptroller of the Receipt and Issue of Her Majesty's Exchequer, and that the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury have appointed the Right Honourable Sir Edward Ryan, Knight, to the said Office of Assistant-Comptroller of the Receipt and Issue of Her Majesty's Exchequer, in the room of the said Arthur Eden; and notice is hereby further given, that the said Edward Ryan, by virtue of his said appointment, is authorised to sign Exche

quer Bills under the Act passed in the 5th and 6th years of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, c. 66, entitled "An Act for further regulating the preparation and issue of Exchequer Bills."

The Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury having certified to the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt, in pursuance of the Act, 10th Geo. 4th, c. 27, sec. 1, that the actual surplus revenue of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, beyond the actual expenditure thereof for the year ended the 5th day of July 1851, amounted to the sum of three millions and thirty-two thousand seven hundred and eighty-six pounds seven shillings and five pence;

The Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt hereby give notice, that the sum of seven hundred and fifty-eight thousand one hundred and ninety-six pounds eleven shillings and ten pence (being one-fourth part of the said surplus of three millions and thirty-two thousand seven hundred and eighty-six pounds seven shillings and five pence) will be applied under the provisions of the said Act, between the 12th day of October 1851, and the 5th day of January 1852, to the following purposes; viz.:
