IT is hereby notified, that Viscount Palmerston, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, has received from Sir Stratford Canning, Her Majesty's Ambassador at Constantinople, a despatch, enclosing an official notification from the Ottoman Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated the 18th of January last, of the blockade of all the ports and coasts of Samos, by the naval forces of His Imperial Majesty the Sultan. Such blockade to commence twenty days after the said 18th of January. Buckingham-Palace, February 3, 1851. The Queen was this day pleased to confer the honour of Knighthood upon James Meek, Esq. late Comptroller of the Victualling and Transport Services in the Admiralty. Whitehall, January 29, 1851. The Queen has been pleased to grant unto William Hunter, of Carse, in the shire of Forfar, a Lieutenant in Her Majesty's 80th Regiment of Foot (Staffordshire Volunteers), and to Carsina-Gordon, his wife, only child and heir of Charles Gordon Gray, younger, of Carse aforesaid, deceased, Her royal licence and authority that they may, in compliance with a condition and provision contained in a certain deed of entail executed by Captain Charles Gray, of Carse aforesaid, and bearing date the twenty-third day of May 1765, take and henceforth use the surname of Gray, instead of that of Hunter, and that they may bear the arms of Gray only, and that such surname and arms may in like manner be taken, borne, and used by the issue of their marriage; such arms being first duly exemplified according to the laws of arms, and recorded in the Herald's office, otherwise the said royal licence and permission to be void and of none effect: And also to command that the said royal oncession and declaration be recorded in Her Majesty's College of Arms.
