INTRODUCTION

COVERAGE

Management is a compilation of references to selected reports, journal articles, and other documents on the subject of management. This publication lists 782 documents originally announced in the 1977 issues of Scientific and Technical Aerospace Reports (STAR) or International Aerospace Abstracts (IAA).

SCOPE

This publication series includes references on the management of: research and development, contracts, production, logistics, personnel, safety, reliability and quality control. It also includes references on: program, project and systems management; management policy, philosophy, tools, and techniques; decisionmaking processes for managers; technology assessment; management of urban problems; and information for managers on Federal resources, expenditures, financing, and budgeting.

ORGANIZATION

Each entry in this bibliography consists of a bibliographic citation accompanied in most cases by an abstract. The listing of the entries is arranged in two sections: IAA Entries and STAR Entries, in that order. The citations, and abstracts when available, are reproduced exactly as they appeared originally in IAA and STAR, including the original accession numbers from the respective announcement journals. This procedure, which saves time and money, accounts for the slight variation in citation appearances.

Following the abstract sections, three indexes are included; subject, personal author, and corporate source.

IAA ENTRIES (A77-10000 Series)

All publications abstracted in this Section are available from the Technical Information Service, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. (AIAA), as follows:

Paper copies of accessions are available at $6.00 per document up to a maximum of 20 pages; the charge for each additional page is $0.25. Microfiche of documents announced in IAA are available at the rate of $2.50 per microfiche on demand, and at the rate of $1.10 per microfiche for standing orders for all IAA microfiche. The price for the IAA microfiche by category is available at the rate of $1.25 per microfiche plus a $1.00 service charge per category per issue. Microfiche of all the current AIAA Meeting Papers are available on a standing order basis at the rate of $1.35 per microfiche.

Minimum air-mail postage to foreign countries is $1.00 and all foreign orders are shipped on payment of pro-forma invoices.

STAR ENTRIES (N77-10000 Series)

One or more sources from which a document announced in STAR is available to the public is ordinarily given on the last line of the citation. The most commonly indicated sources and their acronyms or abbreviations are listed below. If the publication is available from a source other than those listed, the publisher and his address will be displayed on the availability line or in combination with the corporate source line.

Avail: NTIS. Sold by the National Technical Information Service. Prices for hard copy (HC) and microfiche (MF) are indicated by a price code followed by the letters HC or MF in the STAR citation. Price codes are given in the tables on page vii of the current issue of STAR.

Microfiche is available regardless of age for those accessions followed by a # symbol.

NOTE ON ORDERING DOCUMENTS: When ordering NASA publications (those followed by the symbol), use the N accession number. NASA patent applications (only the specifications are offered) should be ordered by the US-Patent-Appl-SN number. Non-NASA publications (no asterisk) should be ordered by the AD, PB, or other report number shown on the last line of the citation, not by the N accession number. It is also advisable to cite the title and other bibliographic identification.

Avail: Univ. Microfilms. Documents so indicated are dissertations selected from Dissertation Abstracts and are sold by University Microfilms as xerographic copy (HC) and microfilm. All requests should cite the author and the Order Number as they appear in the citation.

Avail: USGS. Originals of many reports from the U.S. Geological Survey, which may contain color illustrations, or otherwise may not have the quality of illustrations preserved in the microfiche or facsimile reproduction, may be examined by the public at the libraries of the USGS field offices whose addresses are listed in this introduction. The libraries may be queried concerning the availability of specific documents and the possible utilization of local copying services, such as color reproduction.
