3. Section twenty one of the principal Act is hereby repealed.

4. Section 39 of the principal Act is hereby repealed and the following section shall be substituted therefor, that is to say,

5. Sections 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45 of the principal Act are hereby repealed and the following sections to be numbered 41, 42, 43 44, shall be respectively substituted therefor, that is to say,

41. (1.) In all cases except those beyond the control of the colonial post office, in which a postal parcel which has not been insured is lost or damaged during transit in the island of Barbados, or whilst in the custody of the colonial postmaster, the sender or the addressee shall be entitled to receive as hereinafter provided from the colonial post

(3.) Provided that :

(a.) If in addition to the postage payable in respect of such parcel the sum of sixpence only has been paid by the sender in respect of such parcel the sum paid by way of compensation shall not exceed five pounds.

b.) In respect of every additional sum of sixpence up to five shillings which may be paid by the sender on a parcel over and above the postage as

Cases in which no

aforesaid the colonial postmaster may give compensation to an amount not exceeding the sum of five pounds. (c.) The amount of compensation payable in respect of any one parcel shall in no case exceed the sum of fifty pounds. 43. The colonial postmaster may give effect to the provisions of this Act as to the loss or damage of articles enclosed in or forming part of insured postal parcels out of such aids or supplies as may be from time to time provided by the legislature for that purpose, but nothing contained in or done under or in pursuance of this Act shall render him liable either personally or in his official capacity to any action or other legal proceeding in respect of or in consequence of any such loss or damage.

44. (1.) No compensation will be paid in compensation given. the event of any parcel containing money orders or authorities to pay money or securities for money being lost or damaged.

Postmaster's decision final.

(2.) No compensation will be paid in the event of damage to parcels containing liquid in bottles, eggs and breakable articles or to parcels containing perishable articles when there has been no undue delay, but compensation for loss of the parcel or its contents as distinguished from damage will be paid in these cases.

45. The decision of the colonial postinaster on all questions arising between him and any person claiming payment in respect of the loss or damage of any article enclosed in or forming part of a postal parcel shall be final.

required by this Act, and this Act shall not be inserted in such edition further or otherwise than is herein specified.

Repeal.

7. The repeal of the several provisions of Repeal. the principal act shall not affect

(1.) Any rule, order, bye-law, contract, agreement, bond, treaty, arrangement, license, or certificate now in force whether made under any enactment hereby repealed or not,

(2.) (a.) the past operation of any enact-
ment hereby repealed nor any thing
duly done or suffered under any
enactment hereby repealed; or
(b.) any right, privilege, obligation, or
liability acquired, accrued, or in-
curred under any enactment hereby
repealed; or

(c.) any penalty, forfeiture, or punishment
incurred in respect of any offence
committed against any enactments
hereby repealed; or

(d.) any investigation, legal proceeding or
remedy in respect of any such right,
privilege, obligation, liability, penalty
forfeiture, or punishment as afore-
said and any such investigation,
legal proceeding and remedy may be
carried on as if this Act had not
passed;

(e.) any Act in which the enactments hereby repealed have been applied, incorporated or referred to; and (3.) Any officer appointed under any enactment hereby repealed shall continue and

be deemed to have been duly appointed under this Act; and

(4.) Any enactment or document referring to any Act or enactment hereby repealed shall be construed to refer to this Act or to the corresponding enactment in this Act; and

(5.) shall not revive any enactment, right, office, privilege matter or thing not in force or existing at the passing of this Act.

An Act to make more effectual provision for preventing the spreading of infectious diseases.

E it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly of this Island, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1. This Act may be cited as The prevention of the spreading of diseases act, 1892."

Notice to be given 2. (1) Where an inmate of any building of every case of used for human habitation is suffering from cholera, yellow fever or small-pox; unless such building is a hospital in which cholera, yellow fever, or small-pox, then persons suffering from any such disease are received the following provisions shall have effect, that is to say,
