FROM THE

LONDON GAZETTE of JANUARY 20,

1863.

Whitehall, January 19, 1863.

THE following Addresses of Congratulation to the Queen, on the attainment of his Majority by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, having been transmitted to the Right Honourable Sir George Grey, Baronet, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Home Department, for Presentation, have accordingly been presented by him to Her Majesty, who has been pleased to receive the same very graciously:

To the QUEEN'S Most Excellent Majesty. WE, your Majesty's Loyal and Devoted Servants, the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of

the borough of Grantham, pray to be allowed to offer to your Majesty this fervent expression of our grateful joy for the blessing which has been granted to your Majesty and your dominions by the arrival at the age of Manhood of your eldest Son, The Prince of Wales.

Born to the noblest destiny on earth, nurtured by the tenderest and best of Mothers, guided and governed by the wisest and most accomplished of Fathers, he has received an education equal to his birth, and thus we earnestly trust, he has learned to appreciate the arduous but glorious duties of his station, and is prepared to undertake them, with humble, but firm reliance upon Him, by whom Kings reign and Princes decree justice.

Of this we are assured, by the exemplary conduct of his youth, and by the most important act of his life, the making an early choice of a Consort whom your Majesty has been pleased to welcome, as in every way worthy of his heart and throne.

That your Majesty may long live to rejoice in their happiness, and to continue to your subjects the blessings of your benign sway, is our devout and constant prayer.

Thomas Ekin, Mayor.
