The definition of unit and of the ground covered by the designated subjects is that of the College Entrance Examination Board. Credits must correspond to the unit values of respective subjects. Greater credit than indicated will not be allowed; less credit will be understood as evidence that the entire subject has not been completed.

Certificates should be submitted not later than February 15. A certificate received between February 15 and the exiamination will receive consideration, but in view of the short time left to the Academic Board to investigate its value, no assurance will be given that such certificate can be acted on

in time to exempt the candidate from the mental examination.

Candidates who are informed that their certificates have been accepted must present themselves at the regular time and place, as prescribed in paragraph 64, for physical examination.

II__General Orders, No. 179, War Department, 1910, requiring detailed reports to be made to The Adjutant General of the Army of escapes of general prisoners and other military prisoners, is rescinded. Commanding officers, however, will rigidly investigate every case of escape and will see that strict disciplinary measures are applied with a view to punishing the responsible parties in every case where it is shown that escape was due to lax administration. Department and division commanders are charged with the responsibility of seeing that the foregoing provisions are enforced in so far as they relate to organizations under their jurisdiction.

III__Paragraph II, General Orders, No. 15, War Department, 1913, as amended by Paragraph IV, General Orders, No. 16; Paragraph I, General Orders, No. 61; and Paragraph IV, General Orders, No. 71, War, Department, 1914, relating to fire-control equipment of organizations of Field Artillery and to semaphore code and kits for the Infantry, Cavalry, Field Artillery, and Engineers, furnished by the Signal Corps, is rescinded, the matter referred to therein being provided for in the unit accountability equipment manuals and the drill regulations of the respective arms of the service.

I..In order to carry out that part of section 3 of the act of Congress entitled "An act to increase the efficiency of the aviation service of the Army, and for other purposes," approved July 18, 1914 (published in Bulletin No. 35, War Department, 1914), relative to the rating of junior military aviators, examinations for said rating will be held at such times as the exigencies of the service require. Such aviation students as are recommended for this rating by the Chief Signal Officer of the Army to The Adjutant General will be ordered before such aviation examining boards, to be composed of three officers of experience in the aviation service and two medical officers, as may be constituted from time to time to conduct such technical and physical examinations as may be prescribed. The medical officers of the boards will take part only in the physical examination. The technical examinations will be both theoretical and practical and cover the following subjects: General adaptability, flying, aeroplanes, aeronautical motors, meteorology, and navigation of the air.

The metes and bounds of the military reservation at Fort Du Pont, situate in Red Lion Hundred, in New Castle County, Delaware, as compiled from the deeds conveying the lands to the United States, and plats of survey made in November, 1913, on file therewith, are announced as follows:

Beginning at a stake upon the shore of the Delaware River, at low-water mark, in the line separating lands conveyed to the United States by deeds of Clement Reeves and wife, dated September 12, 1871, and Isaac Reeves et al., dated December 8, 1904, from land of estate of Arthur Colburn, and running by said line S. 48° 51′ 12" W. 1,920 feet, more or less, to a monument in said line, and still by said line 1,820.3 feet, to a monument; thence N. 46° 43' 48" W.

further amended as follows:

1. The designation "United States Military Prison Guards" is changed to "United States Disciplinary Barracks Guards.” 2. The organization of the companies of United States Military Prison Guards, published in section 6, Paragraph I, General Orders, No. 67, War Department, 1913, is amended

to read as follows:

The existing companies of United States Disciplinary Barracks Guards will be maintained at the following enlisted strength:

3. In lieu of the additional enlisted strength now provided for Infantry companies while stationed at Fort Jay, N. Y., and for noncommissioned officers for duty with disciplinary organizations, there are allowed for guards and Overseers for the Atlantic Branch, United States Disciplinary Barracks, Fort Jay, N. Y., 4 sergeants, 8 corporals, and 16 privates, and for noncommissioned officers for duty with disciplinary organizations at the United States Disciplinary Barracks and branches thereof, 82 sergeants. These 86 sergeants, 8 corporals, and 16 privates will be adbatteries of Field Artillery, from which they will be detailed ditional in companies of Infantry, troops of Cavalry, and
