FOREWORD

This publication contains provisions of Federal law pertaining to veterans, enacted from the Sixty-third Congress (1914) through the close of the Eighty-first Congress (1950). Marginal notes give citations to the Statutes at Large and the United States Code, and references to amendatory laws. The compilation does not include appropriations or measures of a private or strictly local nature.

This document will be useful to Members of Congress and service organizations interested in tracing the development of these laws as they have been amended from time to time.

A table of the statutes included herein, arranged by date, appears immediately preceding the index.

The compilation was prepared by Margaret Fennell, legal analyst of the American Law Section of the Legislative Reference Service of the Library of Congress, at the request of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
