Lord Chamberlain's-Office, January 30, 1839.

ORDERS for the Court's going into mourning, to-morrow, Thursday, the 31st instant, for Her late Royal Highness the Princess Mary of Orleans, Consort of the Duke Alexander of Wurtemberg, viz.

The Ladies to wear black silk, fringed or plain linen, white gloves, necklaces and ear-rings, black or white shoes, fans and tippets.

The Gentlemen to wear black, full trimmed, fringed or plain linen, black swords and buckles.

The Court to change the mourning on Thursday the 7th of February next, viz.

The Ladies to wear black silk or velvet, coloured ribbons, fans and tippets, or plain white, or white and gold, or white and silver stuffs, with black ribbons.

The Gentlemen to wear black coats, and black or plain white, or white and gold, or white and silver stuff waistcoats, full trimmed, coloured swords and buckles.

And on Thursday the 14th of February next, the Court to go out of mourning.

Buckingham-Palace, January 29, 1839.

THIS day the Count Sebastiani, Ambassador Extraordinary from the King of the French, had an audience of Her Majesty, to deliver a letter from his Sovereign:

To which he was introduced by Lord Viscount Palmerston, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and conducted by the Master of the Ceremonies.

The Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, granting unto Robert Laurie, Esq. Rouge Croix, Pursuivant of Arms, the office of Windsor Herald, vacant by the promotion of Francis Martin, Esq. to the office of Norroy King of Arms.

The Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, granting unto William Courthope, Gent. the office of Rouge Croix, Pursuivant of Arms, vacant by the promotion of Robert Laurie, Esq. to the office of Windsor Herald.

Poor Law Commission-Office, Somerset-
Place, January 30, 1839.

George Cornewall Lewis, of Harpton-court, in the county of Radnor, Esq. previously to his entering on the execution of his office of Poor Law Commissioner, took the oath required by the 4th and 5th William 4th, cap. 76, sec. 11, on this present 30th day of January 1839, at Westminsterhall, before the Honourable Mr. Justice Littledale, one of the Judges of Her Majesty's Court of Queen's Bench.

And this is further to give notice, in pursuance of the Act, 1st and 2d Victoria, cap. 56, intituled "An Act for the more effectual relief of the destitute poor in Ireland," that the said George Cornewall Lewis is one of the Commissioners directed by the said Act to carry the provisions of the same into execution. Lord Great Chamberlain's-Office, House of Lords, February 2, 1839.

ALL Peeresses, on announcing their intention of being present on the occasion of Her Majesty opening Parliament, on Tuesday the 5th of February, will have places reserved for them in the House of Lords, if the announcement be made at this Office, before five o'clock on Monday evening the 4th of February.

No Lady can be admitted into the body of the House, except in full dress.

No strangers will be admitted, except by a ticket from the Lord Great Chamberlain's Office.

The doors will be opened at twelve o'clock.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Her Majesty will hold Levees, at St. James's-Palace, on Wednesday the 20th instant, and on Wednesday the 6th day of March next, at two o'clock.

REGULATIONS TO BE OBSERVED AT THE QUEEN'S LEVEES, AT ST. JAMES'S-PALACE.

The Noblemen and Gentlemen who propose to attend Her Majesty's Levees at St. James's-Palace, are requested to bring with them two cards with their names thereon written, one to be left with the Queen's Page in attendance in the PresenceChamber, and the other to be delivered to the Lord in Waiting, who will announce the name to Her Majesty. And those Gentlemen who are to be presented are hereby informed, it is absolutely necessary that their names, with the name of the Gentleman who is to present them (not the Lord in Waiting), should be sent to the Lord Chamberlain's Office, before twelve o'clock on Monday the 18th, for those who will attend the Levee on the 20th of February, and before twelve o'clock on Monday the 4th, for those who will attend the Levee on the 6th of March, and before twelve
