upon a very careful consideration of the matter, the trustees decided that it could go over until this; but, the time, certainly, now has arrived when its necessity is apparent. 3. For cement floors in dish wash room and main hall . . . $300 00 4. For grading and laying out roads and setting trees in new cemetery... 500 00 This amount will do all of the grading, road making and tree planting necessary for the new cemetery. 5. For repairs and equipment.... $8,000 00 The amount asked for here is twice that appropriated last year. There are many exterior repairs to be made to the older buildings at the institution and, while it would not seem necessary that this large amount be appropriated every year, it seems expedient for me to make the recommendation this, as the work to be done under such an appropriation is fast accumulating. The following statement of the disposition of the appropriations for extraordinary repairs and improvements is brought up to the date of calculation, which is March 1, 1906; this having been done with a view to giving an exact knowledge of the conditions that subsequent requirements might be more closely estimated: 52 56 Repairs to electrical plant.... Reappropriated from chapter 599, Laws of 1903. Capacity of institution, 229. Average population for the fiscal year, 226.54. Net per capita cost of maintenance, $225.53. Total net cost of maintenance, $50,091.58. Area of grounds, 107.5. Number of buildings, 14. Appropriated for improvements and betterments by the Legis lature of 1905, $50,321.98. |
