Note: Cones used for signals Nos. 1 and 2 must have a base diameter of 0.5 m and a height of 1.5 m.

1. The height and diameter of the cones and cylinders and diameter of the ball used in signals 7-11 should be not less than 1 m.

2. The distance between the signs of a day signal should be not less than 1 m, and not less than 2 m for night signals.

1. Signal No. 8 is displayed only in regions frequented by small vessels, for which such a wind is dangerous.

2. In event of a further expected increase of wind to force 8 or more, signals Nos. 5 and

8 with signals Nos. 9-12 are changed to signals Nos. 1-4 or 6-7 with 9-12.

3. Signals Nos. 13-14 are displayed with signals Nos. 1-4, and when necessary, with signals Nos. 9-12.

1. Signals Nos. 15-16 are displayed simultaneously with one of signals Nos. 1-7 and 8-12, Appendix 26.

2. The absence of a time signal with one of signals Nos. 1-7 and 8-12 indicates that the predicted weather is expected within the next 12 hours.
