3 Through all succeeding ages he The same hath been, the same shall be; Immortal radiance gilds his head, While stars and suns wax old and fade. 4 The same his power his flock to guard; The same his bounty to reward; The same his faithfulness and love, To saints on earth, and saints above. 5 Let nature change, and sink, and die, Jesus shall raise his chosen high, And fix them near his stable throne, In glory changeless as his own. 116. L.M.-Christ the Way to Heaven. 1 JESUS, my all to heaven is gone, 2 The way the holy prophets went. 3 This is the way I long have sought, 4 The more I strove against its power, 5 Lo! glad I come, and thou, blest Lamb, Shalt take me to thee as I am! My sinful self to thee I give! 6 Then will I tell to sinners round, What a dear Saviour I have found; I'll point to thy redeeming blood, And say, "Behold the way to God." 117. C.M.-Christ the Way, the Truth, and the Life. John xiv. 6. 1 THOU art the Way to thee alone From sin and death we flee; And he who would the Father seek, 2 Thou art the Truth-thy word alone Thou only canst instruct the mind, 3 Thou art the Life - the rending tomb And those who put their trust in thee, 4 Thou art the Way, the Truth, the Life- 118. C.M.-Christ the Door. John x. 9. Hosea ii. 15. 1 AWAKE our souls, and bless his name, Who opens wide a door of hope 2 Behold the portal wide display'd, 3 Enter, my soul, with cheerful haste, Nor fear the serpent's wily arts, 4 O, may thy grace the nations lead, And Jews and Gentiles come, All travelling through one beauteous gate, To one eternal home. 119. P.M.-Christ the Light of men. 1 LIGHT of those whose dreary dwelling God hath for our ransom'd race; P.M.-Christ our Refuge. 1 JESUS, lover of my soul, While the nearer waters roll, Hide me, O my Saviour hide, O, receive my soul at last. Hangs my helpless soul on thee, With the shadow of thy wing. 3 Plenteous grace with thee is found, 121. C.M.-Christ the living Vine. John xv. 4. 1 LORD of the vineyard, we adore 2 For ever may they there abide, Be influence spread through every branch, To form and feed the fruit. 3 Shine forth, my God, the clusters warm With rays of sacred love, Till Eden's soil, and Zion's streams, 122. P.M.-Christ a true Friend. 1 ONE there is above all others, 2 Which, of all our friends, to save us, 3 When he liv'd on earth abased, 1 Teach us, Lord, at length to love, We, alas! forget too often What a friend we have above; But when home our souls are brought, We shall love thee as we ought. 123. S.M.-Christ an all-sufficient Friend. THOU very present aid, In suffering and distress; The soul which still on thee is stay'd, Is kept in perfect peace: The soul by faith reclin'd 'Midst raging storms exults to find An everlasting rest. |
