INVITATIONS AND EXHORTATIONS.

1

Hymn.

Invitation to fly to Christ.

WEARY souls that wander wide

From the central point of bliss,
Turn to JESUS crucified,

Fly to those dear wounds of His:
Sink into the purple flood:

Rise into the life of GOD.

2 Find in CHRIST the way of peace,
Peace unspeakable, unknown:
By His pain He gives you ease,
Life, by His expiring groan :
Rise, exalted by His fall;
Find in CHRIST your all in all.

3 O believe the record true;

GOD to you His Son hath giv'n!
Ye may now be happy too;

Find on earth the life of heav'n:
Live the life of heav'n above;
All the life of glorious love.

4 This the universal bliss,

Bliss for ev'ry soul design'd;
GOD's original promise this,
GOD'S great gift to all mankind!
Blest in CHRIST this moment be!
Blest to all eternity!

Hymn.

Invitation to the Gospel Feast.

1 COME, sinners, to the Gospel-feast;
Let ev'ry soul be JESU's guest:
Ye need not one be left behind;
For GOD hath bidden all mankind.

2 Sent by my LORD, on you I call;
The invitation is to all:

Come, all the world; come, sinner, thou,
All things in CHRIST are ready now.
3 Come, all ye souls by sin opprest,
Ye restless wand'rers after rest;

Ye poor, and maim'd, and halt, and blind,
In CHRIST a hearty welcome find.

4 My message as from GOD receive;
Ye all may come to CHRIST, and live:
O let His love your hearts constrain,
Nor suffer Him to die in vain!

5 His love is mighty to compel;
His conquering love consent to feel;
Yield to His love's resistless pow'r;
And fight against your GOD no more.
6 See Him set forth before your eyes,
That precious, bleeding sacrifice!
His offer'd benefits embrace,
And freely now be sav'd by grace!

7 This is the time; no more delay ;
This is the acceptable day:

Come in, this moment, at His call,
And live for Him, who died for all.

Hymn.

Invitation to the Marriage Supper.

1 SINNERS, obey the Gospel-word;
Haste to the supper of my LORD;
Be wise to know your gracious day;
All things are ready, come away!

2 Ready the FATHER is to own,
And kiss His late returning son:
Ready your loving SAVIOUR stands,
And spreads for you His bleeding hands.

3 Ready the SPIRIT of His love,
Just now the stony to remove;

T' apply and witness with the blood,
And wash, and seal the sons of God.

4 Ready for you the angels wait,
To triumph in your blest estate:
Tuning their harps, they long to praise
The wonders of redeeming grace.

5 The FATHER, Son, and HOLY GHOST, Are ready with their shining host:

All heav'n is ready to résound,

"The dead's alive! the lost is found!"

6 Come, then, ye sinners, to your LORD,
In CHRIST to paradise restor❜d:
His proffer'd benefits embrace,
The plenitude of Gospel-grace.

Hymn.

Invitation to the Living Waters.

1 HO! ev'ry one that thirsts draw nigh; ('Tis GOD invites the fallen race ;) Mercy and free salvation buy;

Buy wine, and milk, and Gospel-grace.

2 "Come to the living waters, come! Sinners, obey your Maker's call: Return, ye weary wand'rers, home,

And find My grace is free for all.
3 "See from the Rock a fountain rise!
For you in healing streams it rolls;
Money ye need not bring, nor price,
Ye lab'ring, burthen'd, sin-sick souls.
4 "Why seek ye that which is not bread,
Nor can your hungry souls sustain ?
On ashes, husks, and air, ye feed;
You spend your little all in vain.

5 "In search of empty joys below,
Ye toil with unavailing strife:
Whither, ah! whither would ye go?
I have the words of endless life.

6 "I bid you all My goodness prove:
My promises for all are free:
Come, taste the manna of My love,
And let your souls delight in Me.

7 "Your willing ear and heart incline,
My words believingly receive;
Quicken'd, your souls, by faith divine,
An everlasting life shall live."

Hymn.

Invitation to the Blind, Deaf, &c.

10 FOR a thousand tongues to sing
My dear REDEEMER'S praise!
The glories of my GOD and King,
The triumphs of His grace!

2 My gracious Master, and my GOD,
Assist me to proclaim;

To spread through all the earth abroad The honours of Thy Name.

3 JESUS, the Name that charms our fears, That bids our sorrows cease;

"Tis music in the sinner's ears;
"Tis life, and health, and peace.

4 He breaks the pow'r of cancell'd sin,
He sets the pris'ner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean:
His blood avail'd for me.

5 Hear Him, ye deaf: his praise, ye dumb,
Your loosen'd tongues employ:
Ye blind, behold your SAVIOUR come;
And leap, ye lame, for joy.

6 Look unto him, ye nations: own
Your GOD, ye fallen race;

Look, and be sav'd through faith alone, Be justified by grace.

7 See all your sins on JESUS laid;
The LAMB of GOD was slain,

His soul was once an off'ring made
For ev'ry soul of man.
