The Nature, Progress, and True Treatment of this Scourge of England, with 133 Selected Cases. The following Case is from the ELEVENTH SERIES: CONSUMPTION.-CASE of L. P., a YOUNG LADY near CHESTERFIELD Miss L. P., daughter of a farmer, consulted me in October last. There had been consumption in the father's and mother's family. Illness commenced with coll followed by measles, inducing general debility-(under such circumstances disease is readily developed); other symptoms supervened. At the time of consulting me the cough was very troublesome, the expectoration yellow green; sharp pains were felt in the chest; diarrhoea had set in, she could take little beside mil Hectic flushes and perspirations followed, and general loss of flesh and strength. The medic attendant gave but faint hope of her. Full advice was sent. In one month there was evident improvement: "A little stronger, the perspirations had ceased;" in another month, "much better;" but damp and foggy weathe kept up the cough. Month after month improvement continued (as frequent letters testify). In February mother writes: "Our dear daughter, through the efficacy of your valuable medicine, has been enable to attend to household duties. Cough and expectoration are now very slight. Our doctor called th other day, and was quite astonished at the change." The patient was under my treatment about six months altogether. Some few weeks since, b mother, writing me, says: "Our daughter is like a new creature. When she commenced she ha every symptom of deep consumption. Two doctors said she could not recover. publish her case, without the name in full." If you think we Note.-Mr. Congreve's Son-in-law, J. ALEX. BROWN, M.R.C.S., L.S.A., is now associated with him.
