The Cedar Tree

On a Spring afternoon in 1949's Laceola, Georgia, Sport Kirk, a twelve-year-old boy, witnessed a drive by shooting motivated by racial hatred. He knows the attackers and finds himself embroiled in a conflict much larger and older than he is. Sport, with the help of his life long friend, Jack, must weather the shocking violence of white supremacy, the conflicting advice from family and friends, and the uncertainty of a skewed legal system as he tried to grow up. His opportunity to become a self-respecting young man rides on his ability to stand in the face of hatred and do the right thing.
